Song place cards

SmileyBride, on June 16, 2017 at 8:43 AM Posted in Style and Décor 1 19

Happy Friday! Need a little help. I want to do love songs as table numbers... there is a long sappy reason.. anyway I wondered is there anyone who has done this? I wanted to see how you did it. I am thinking of having the song lyrics and the song title layered on top... but I don't know can't find a example of what's in my head! Also would you still include a number somewhere?

That's such an adorable idea!!! We're doing Beauty and the Beast themed table cards! I'm so excited!!! Have you checked Pinterest? I swear that's how I figured out what I wanted, and it's been so easy to show my mom and FH!

We are doing song titles as well. Instead of table numbers, I purchased old 40's and wrote the song titles I wanted on them.

Why does it have to be so difficult? Just use numbers...

I have been toying with an idea like this too. What about using the lyrics as a background, with the table number printed on top? If that makes sense.

    @yoomie that's a cute idea

@ Whitney because as I said there is a sappy story behind it. We were picking our wedding song we listened to a ton of songs over and over when we go on our walks on the weekend. So I wanted to incorporate that part of the journey on our wedding day! But I do get your point. And may just say efff it!

A friend of mine did this at her wedding. She just had the title of the song written on a card displayed on a table. She then had the DJ play the songs to let people know when it was their turn to go up to the buffet (instead of calling numbers)

Do you mean something like this? Lovely idea. However, I would include numbers as well since you don't want it to be a treasure hunt for your guests to find their tables.

@firstoneat56 yes! Like that! And I was thinking the same thing. Something that was cute could quickly turn into "why the hell did they do this"

I thought of doing disney movie themed tables or something like that.. so something simple you could do would be, naming each table after a song, and in the centerpiece, incorporate a fancy picture frame and put lyrics from that song (the ones that mean the most to you and fh) in the frame.. If you are a bit crafty, you could print the lyrics from your computer and then adhere the paper to some pretty scrapbooking type card stock. Might be a good idea to use numbers with your idea too, just so the flow of seating doesn't get chaotic. Good luck!

Yvette, I literally created this in 2 minutes. Just use Powepoint. I looked up the lyrics to a song and cut and paste them in a PP text box. I then centered the lyrics and used a light grey font color (or lighter version of what ever color you want). Then I inserted another text box and type d the song title in a darker color. I centered the title text box over the lyrics text box. Make sure you click on the title text box and click on "bring to front." Then select both text boxes, right click and select "Save as Picture" and save as a jpeg file. You can then paste the jpeg in a word or PowerPoint doc and print on card stock. This whole project shouldn't take more than an hour tops.

One last thing - Ikea has great frames for this for $0.99 each. They are white but they can be spray painted a different color. I am using them for my table numbers and I am painting them gold. It's the Tolsby frame. There's no back so you can put the table number/name on both sides in case it gets turned around.

    Good luck!

I tried doing it but I was in word it and the lyrics wouldn't do what I wanted! 8 will go to power point thank you thank you! And I had those IKEA frames in mind!!! You are awesome @firstoneat56! I don't know why I didn't think to switch to power point! Brain is melting! Sometimes you are too close to the project and need a fresh look at it! Have an awesome weekend

@firstoneat56 how did you get the text to go across like that for the song lyrics? I can't get it format that way

I actually found a bunch of ideas by searching for "song lyric table numbers" on google image and pinterest!

I like also including a visible table number so that your guests can quickly find their table! I went to a wedding that used different flower names for each table, and we literally had to go look at every single table and yell out the names to each other to figure out where we were sitting Smiley smile

Make sure you select all the text and in "format" make sure your text is set to "vertical alignment" - Top and "Text Direction" - horizontal. You can always drag the text box wider or make it narrower.
