Song Request Rsvp's

Jolie, on January 23, 2019 at 9:44 AM Posted in Planning 0 19

Anyone else doing this?? Is it helpful? I got the idea from my friend's wedding. Are you still choosy if someone picks a crappy song? lol I am thinking about it because I don't want spur of the moment requests at the reception because to me that's recipe for disaster.

Song Request Rsvp's 1
Song Request Rsvp's 2
Song Request Rsvp's 3

I am doing them, I added it onto the invitations on the RSVP part, Ive also seen people do this at the bridal shower, they pass out little pieces of paper and have everyone pick a song. I will be being picky lol if neither of us want to play the song we wont play it.

I plan to do this as well. I also plan to be picky LOL. It's just great to get an idea of songs people want to hear. If it's not my or FH taste at all though, it probably wont be played lol. I don't think people will be wondering why you didn't choose their song choice.

    Hello Angelena!

I think this is an awesome idea! My aunt and uncle did something similar for their wedding! Of course, my dad wrote down two real songs and two joking/made up songs because he's a child, but I thought it was a cute idea! Smiley smile

What types of songs are you trying to stay away from?

Hahaha that's too funny about your dad, I hadn't even thought of people making up songs. Idk there are certain artists I def will be staying away from, a lot of rap music, and if people suggest slow songs because we already have enough slow songs and people wanna dance upbeat! I think if I phrase it like above "i promise to dance" or something along those lines people will pick upbeat music!

For sure! I can't possibly think of every fun song to play. FH says people should be able to request or they have to ask the bride/groom cuz our one friends had that and the dj said he had to ask them. I said but she didn't already have a song request for the rsvp so if they already put a song there shouldn't be more requests the day of!

I totally agree! It will get people thinking about fun songs rather than anything too slow/heavy!

Oooo that's a good idea too. Never thought of that. For sure going to be picky. I don't really want a lot of those traditional wedding dance songs like YMCA, chicken dance, cotton eye joe, ugh the wobble. My FH LOVES the wobble and I cannot.stand.it. lol My mom was like WHAT you can't not do the YMCA. I'm just like uhhh I think they're kinda outdated for weddings today.

Lol I feel ya! I like the cupid shuffle and so do some of our friends, i was going to do that one and I wanted to do the Macarena because that was always my mom and I's song, I thought it would be fun for us to have our own dance and have people join in, but i read an article on here (i think) about the top hated songs for weddings and those were on there so I'm not going to do them now... don't want to have an empty dance floor.

Ughhh cupid shuffle is so redundant for me. I like the Macarena! That's like the only one I like. Lol see so I guess I am not wrong that they are dying out... A lot of my friends and I go country line dancing so we will have some of those in there (the one's I actually know and don't look stupid doing! I am no pro lol) to have some uniform dances.

Yeah it is redundant but for some reason we still like it lol. I don't think I have been to a wedding in the last couple years that have played those songs. they are definitely dying out. I think I am just deciding not to do any, no awkward empty dance floor, no issues.

I’m also planning on doing this! My sister did this last year as well as another friend of ours and I think it’s a fun way to involve guests!

I did it and it wasn't helpful. Everyone wrote, play whatever you want or selected genre and year but no specific song. It was annoying.

We are doing this on our website with the RSVP part. And just because it's requested doesn't mean it's guaranteed to play at our wedding.

Oh yuck, I hate all of those old line dances (except for Cha Cha Slide since that was my generation Smiley xd ). FW enjoys dancing so she'll probably want some of those, I think I'll have to give her a limit of how many lol

We did this...RSVPs are still coming in, but nothing crazy yet. One requested the Electric Slide, and I'll probably let that one in, we're old and it does actually get people on the dance floor LOL. Besides that, we've gotten a lot of slow songs...it seems like everyone wants to dance to their wedding song again. Only one or 2 blanks so far, one for "Motown!" and my mom "whatever the bride will dance to with her mother"

We did this! We only had maybe 7 come
back with something written in. I don’t think they all got played. I also made a small list of songs I’d like played, those didn’t all
get played either. But I think we wrapped stuff up early.

Oh and I allowed all the requests except the one from the best man. He admitted he put something crazy down because my husband wanted to see if I’d put it down.
