Songs for High School Sweethearts

Devyn, on March 20, 2019 at 11:01 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 3 19

I've seen threads for this before, but haven't found them very helpful. What I'm looking for are songs that don't have references to breaking up, other lovers, things like "this time". There's a few songs I really like, but they have some kind of reference to a breakup or other person or finding each other later in life. We've been together since 14/15 years old and he's my only SO ever.

Preferably a little more formal of suggestions! I want something that's applicable but also not so old nobody but my grandma knows it. We will have a trio singing in the ceremony so need a song for that and our first dance song!

TIA

Not sure if you are a country fan, but some of my favorites are:

    Then - Brad Paisley

The Rest of Our Life - Tim McGraw & Faith Hill

    Speechless - Dan and Shay

From the Ground Up - Dan and Shay

Me and You - Kenny Chesney

My fiancé and I are high school sweethearts and we are using the song “Perfect” by Ed Sheeren. I know Ed Sheeren is very typical but we just relate to this song more than any other. There’s a part in the song that says “we were just kids when we fell in love not knowing what it was” and then it also later says “we are still kids but we’re so in love fighting against all odds” we relate to these lyrics so much because we met so young and now we are getting married young. Every time I listen to this song I cry I think it’s perfect for high school sweethearts. I also think “Then” by Brad Paisley is another great one, we are playing that song at our wedding just not as a first dance.

This is our top choice at the moment! Our only thing about it is it says "I will not give you up this time" which makes it eh for us. I'll look up the other one though!

This is it - Scotty McCreery

Yours (wedding edition) - Russell Dickerson

When you got a good thing - Lady Antebellum

My guy and I first dated in 1985. I did a search online and on YouTube for songs & love songs from that year. I would try that

I immediately thought of Kci and JoJo All my life or Crazy makes me super nostalgic but maybe not the mood you're going for.

We used Otis Redding these arms of mine. I think it would be awesome to do a mix of some songs through the years you've been together.

I can’t even imagine what could be better than “Perfect” by Ed Sheeren. We are together not from such a young age, but at the university we read here more and then discussed reviews like 123helpme. So we have our own story where everything revolved around study, or rather ways to simplify it. So we are looking for a fun song

Perfect by ed Sheeran would definitely by my first choice but here are a few other songs. Almost every song will have at least one lyric that doesn't perfectly suit you go will the one that make you feel good. Best of luck to you have fun choosing!

My First, My Last, My Everything

Your Still the One (there are a bunch of covers of this song Kacey Musgraves and Harry Styles and Lady Antebellum have both done it at shows )

    It Had to Be You

    You're the Inspiration

    Everything

    500 Miles

    Amaszed

    You Are the Best Thing

    Luckiest

Okay. based on the original post you probably don't want this song from the 60s

Can't Take My Eyes Off of You

Sorry. I found that song on youtube recently.

    A few (non-country) suggestions

All The Man That I Need
    by Whitney Houston
    Adore You by Miley Cyrus
    Blessed by Christina Aguilera

If You're Not the One by Daniel Bedingfield

Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden
Everything I Do (I Do It For You) by Bryan Adams
I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing by Aerosmith
    Hero by Enrique Iglesias

They don't all refer to the lovers being together for a long time already, but they don't imply turbulence in their past, either.
