Songs??

Kristina, on August 30, 2019 at 1:33 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6
So I am trying to figure out what we need to pick songs out for? I know I have to have a song for myself and my girls to walk down to, as well as the father daughter, mother son dance, but what am I forgetting? I feel like there is a lot of songs I should be planning for. Do I [pick out music for when the guests are arriving at the ceremony? So lost on this one..... thank you for any help you can give Smiley smile

Your DJ should ask what you are looking for in your music, and will have a list of moments you may want a specific song for. I do think music when guests are arriving is ideal as it sets the tone right away. We went will all instrumentals for this including versions of popular songs we liked. Also think about what you would like playing for cocktail hour and dinner. You will need a recessional song after the ceremony and a first dance song. Some people also have songs for cake cutting, bouquet and garter tosses, and last song.

Usually your musicians or dj just plays a mix 15-30 min before the ceremony. You could pick a genre instead of individual songs. Processional song(s), optional unity, recessional. For the cocktail hour and dinner you could again pick a genre and just let your dj play a mix. Then for the reception people can pick songs for entrance, first dance, special dances, cake cutting, tosses, last song. I’m only picking first dance and last song and not the others.

Our DJ gave us what he calls our "cheat sheet" for us to fill out and give to him 30 days before the wedding. These were on the list:

    Processional

    Bride Down the Aisle

    Recessional

    Wedding Party Intro

    Bride & Groom Intro

    First Dance

    Father/Daughter Dance

    Mother/Son Dance

    Bouquet/Garter Toss

    Last Dance

    Exit Song

For the pre-ceremony music, he plays classical covers of popular songs by Vitamin String Quartet, unless we'd prefer something else. But I think that's all of them, I don't have the sheet in front of me lol. He said we can fill out as much or as little as we want, depending if we want specific songs for each event. Otherwise he'd choose what's been popular at past weddings he's done. Hope this helps!
