Sooo has anyone just not registered... at all.

Megan, on December 28, 2019 at 2:04 PM Posted in Registry 0 10

I am against asking for money because, I would be offended if it were me.... So is it just as bad to not register at all? We have everything we NEED, sure we could do with a few new things but I am not going to register for only 4 items.... Did anyone do this? Did it work out in your favor or the other way around? What were peoples reactions?

People do this all the time (you can search around on these discussion boards and you'll see a bunch of stuff). It's completely fine not to register. Like you said, it's rude to ask for money, but if you don't want physical gifts, the best way to go about things is either to have a very small registry or none at all. Many people will gift money in this case.

Why do you need to register? I personally feel Registries are only appropriate for couples who have nothing and I'm moving in together for the first time. No disrespect to anyone else but I don't see the purpose of Registries for things for the house if you already have things for the house. We can all use nicer things but I feel a lot asking people to buy things that I already have. If you feel that you don't need a registry then don't have one. I don't think that would offend anybody or be bad.

I wasn’t going to register but my grandmother insisted. We registered on Amazon for things we need to upgrade. I felt weird because we’ve lived together for four years and we don’t need anything. But...if your grandmother insists, you do it, lol.

I agree with you here...on the flip side my grandma really wanted us to register so we did - a lot of what we have is second hand or we have had for 15 years (that we brought into the relationship) so we registered for things that we desperately need to replace. And stuff for our dogs 😂

It was weird though - we have already established a life so it was really difficult.

It's our mostly still useable stuff now there is no going back lol The grannies man... gotta love em…. but regardless of If I register I am certain I will end up with a bars of dove soap and some washcloths. Smiley xd At least I won't be smelly. Smiley heart

LOL replacing items is understandable and not a bad thing and well dogs need stuff too so I get that. At best we would like to update our house so unless it is odd to add tools and wood to our registry I dunno if we will lol.

We had a small registry of maybe 20 things for the old school people who preferred giving physical gifts but it was mostly upgrades to appliances and a couple "nice to have" things. Nothing we wouldnt use regularly.

Ah im so tempted with all the house projects we have been working on the last 2 years and will be working on. I'm in a different spot though since it's our vow renewal. Though we never had a wedding celebration 5 years ago i don't expect people to gift anything at all...so no registry of any kind for me but if you are actually getting married married I don't think it's wrong to ask for whatever it is you need or want.
Not having a registry is same as asking for money - at least that's how I see it. People should get the hint.
