Sore throat 2 days before wedding

Taylor, on August 23, 2018 at 7:35 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 19
As of today, we are 2 days out from the wedding. Yesterday, my throat started hurting, so I took a rest day and didn’t go to class thinking my body was overworked and needed some rest. I took Chloraseptic throat lozenges yesterday, and my throat is still hurting today. I’m gonna gargle with warm salty water this morning (my mom swears by it). And then if that doesn’t work for more than 30 minutes, I going to go to the doctor. This is just my luck.

I would go to the dr asap. If it's strep you can get antibiotics and be better in time for the wedding!

I would go to the doctor today. If you need antibiotics you could have them and be good for your wedding. I’ve done vitamin c drops and they helped my throat.

I’m planning to go when they open. The gargling is a last ditch effort. Even the throat lozenges yesterday didn’t work for very long (30 minutes tops)

In addition to doctor try boosting your immune system with a turmeric, honey, lemon tea. 1tsp turmeric, 1 tsp honey, 1/2 lemon squeezed into hot water. How you feel better soon!

I swear by fisherman's friend cherry flavour lozenges for sore throats and coughs because it's sucrose free. Definitely go see a doctor tho!

If you don't have strep or anything they can give you a medication for, ask them if you'd be okay to take an OTC that helps reduce pain and inflammation. My Dr suggested that to me I once because it felt like strep but wasn't, and I needed some relief. I don't remember which thing it was, like if it was Aleve or Tylenol or whatever, so definitely ask...

Definitely go to the doctor. If it’s strep, the antibiotics will have you feeling better by the wedding!

If it’s just a virus, the odds are in your favor too. Most sore throats don’t last more than 2-3 days. Good luck and feel better!!

Also, I will swear by (1) ginger tea (ginger is a HUGE immune booster and well help your body fight the virus) and (2) chicken broth.

With chicken broth when I have a bad sore throat I don’t even bother to make soup with it, I literally just heat it up on the stove, put it in a mug and drink it. It’s super weird but it’s very soothing and healing!

I would just make the doctors appt now or go to urgent care and stress the situation! Do you have a vitamin bar in your area? Some people swear by Vitamin B12 injections or potassium bags for feeling better. When I feel myself getting sick, I wash our sheets & pillow cases immediately and clean our bathroom with bleach cleaner to get rid of any germs. I feel like it's really helped.

Get to the doctor ASAP! Don’t wait to go. Take care of this as soon as possible. In the meantime, I swear by a spoonful of raw honey and zinc lozenges you can get at the drug store from several different brands. They’re supposed to shorten the length of colds!

Update: I have an upper respiratory infection and tested negative for strep. I was given a steroid shot and a rocephin shot (which really hurt my butt for about an hour. Thank goodness it’s not sore!), and then prescribed antibiotics and allergy medicine. I told them that I’m getting married tomorrow (in 2 days when I actually went to the doctor), and that doctor hooked me up lol. The antibiotics he prescribed could also help with strep if I somehow developed it or something, and he also prescribed medicine for a yeast infection “just in case” I was one of those girls who got one from antibiotics. I haven’t usually been, but I’m taking all the precautions and eating yogurt to try and make sure that doesn’t happen. Overall, I’m designing much better. Definitely not as tired. My throat is still really dry, but I’m drinking lots of water and eating chicken noodle soup as much as possible, which really seems to be helping. Thank you all so much for telling me to go to the doctor. I think I would’ve been much worse today and tomorrow if I hadn’t, which would’ve really sucked.
