sos Wedding Invite Help

Tamia, on August 4, 2022 at 3:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

So I completely forgot to enclose our RSVP cards in with our wedding invitations. I've already sealed the invites as well, so I'm thinking of taping the rsvp cards to the back of the invites but I'm super nervous that they'll fall off during transport. Please let me know if you've taped invites to the back of other invites and had it work? I'm super stressed now and we cant afford to budget in ordering new envelopes and stamps. it was expensive enough the first time around Smiley sad

I'm honestly not sure if that's going to work...you mean tape the RSVP card to the outside of the envelope? I would not! Imagine if they fall off, how will those guests know what to do?

Do you have a wedding website (here, theknot, etc) that you can add an RSVP page to, that was noted on the bottom of your wedding invite?

If no, and no, I think you may have to try and open the envelopes and reseal them if you can't buy new ones. This is something that would end up happening to me, too....I feel your pain!!

We do have a wedding website but it’s not mentioned on our cards that’s only because we’re eloping and our wedding is a “celebration of marriage.” However, we do have an rsvp on our site and our guests are only family…it’s just going to cost us so much money to re-purchase the stamps and envelopes and we don’t have it in our budget Smiley sad

Okay, i'm stressed for you! Here's what I can come up with

    1. If there are less than 50 guests invited, just send your invites and spread word of mouth on how to RSVP

    2. Gather everyone's email. Only need half if mostly couples! Make a nice digital invitation (templett or canva, I'll even make one for you if you need help!) with basically the same information as your physical ones but direct people to RSVP on your website. We are having a destination wedding and had to do virtual invites to link the booking site. It worked great!

    3. Last ditch....Reallocate the budget and redo invites Smiley sad

How sealed are the envelopes? Is it possible to try and either unstick the flap or trim them and reseal?

Don’t panic. About 40% of our guests Didn’t send our pre-stamped RSVP card back and I had to follow up with them via text, calls, and emails.

I would either get new envelopes and re-do the invitations or you'll need to contact your guests and let them know how to RSVP. A quick text would work for that. I think taping the RSVP to the back would be problematic.

What if you use a website built for electronic RSVPs and print a QR code on the back of the envelopes/on a sticker with instructions to scan to RSVP online? Sorry, this sounds very frustrating Smiley sad

Also THIS. Almost no one bothers to mail them back and you have to contact everyone anyway LOL. This is my third wedding, and I had to do that at the first two.

You can try to use steam or a very light application of warm water ( maybe with a paint brush) to the back where the seal is and see if you can reopen the envelopes. You will probably have to tape or use stickers to reseal the envelopes

Yes! I was surprised by the number of guests that “lost” the Rsvp portion. Luckily, everyone came who said they were going to and we didn’t have any no shows.

I'd say try to (carefully!) steam the envelopes to see if you can get them open first. If not, you could either contact guests via email to direct them to your website or just get a pack of regular envelopes to mail the RSVP cards separately. Taping the RSVP cards might tear either the RSVP card or the original envelope. The post office unfortunately isn't known for being gentle.

Oh man thats unfortunate but you know in the grand scheme of things only a little hiccup and hopefully this will be something you laugh over years later. Try not to stress over it. I wouldn't tape the rsvp to the envelope if you cannot open the envelope carefully I d switch over to online rsvps. As a last resort could also mail out the rsvp cards to the few guests you know won't do it online (like grandparents etc)Have it on your website and text or email your guests the info. Anyone you don't hear from you can call after the RSVP deadline. Good luck!

You can share your wedding website via email or text and ask them to RSVP via that. 🥰
