Cute! That would be fun for a winter wedding for sure. The only hard part (I assume) would be a way to keep all the soup really warm? And if it would get messy with people serving themselves? I assume offering an array of options, like a tomato based soup, a chicken broth based soup, and a creamy soup, would be good! I would offer bread too, and toppings if you served tortilla soup or chili.

This sounds amazing although I have never seen one either! I loooove soup. So I would so go for this idea! Maybe have servers give out the portions so people don't make messes then people can add whatever toppings they want themselves!

Hi Miranda! I think this is a really amazing idea! I think for a late Fall/Winter wedding, your guests would love to warm up with a variety of soups! For inspiration, here are a few photos that I found:

You could always put our a variety of toppings as well!

Would soup be the main thing you'd serve? It's a neat idea but I don't know if it would be substantial enough by itself. I would definitely have breads and salads at least, as well.

I haven't been to a wedding with a soup bar, but my mom went to one a couple of years ago and STILL talks about how great it was!

Are you going to hire people to serve the soup or are guests going to be serving themselves? I just ask because a couple months ago my coworker went to the self-serve soup station at the grocery store, accidentally barely tapped the side of the metal container with her finger, and ended up having to go to the ER because it gave her a second degree burn! Apparently there are FDA regulations for how hot the soup has to be in order to keep it fresh (makes sense) but still, getting a second degree burn from soup was absurd.

I’m just sharing this to caution you about having people self-serve soup if that’s what you were thinking, because that could go very awry!

Omg, well thats definitely not something that I thought about! Lucky for my guests I’m in the medical field Smiley winking LOL. Seriously though, not cool. The more I think about it the more I’m steering away from the idea. I might as well pay $4000 for a catered meal and just be done with it. Sorry about your co worker. I hope she’s well. Burns are awful.

I would definitely be doing salad, bread, and desserts with it. It wouldn’t be by itself. I’m even considering it for an app, but I’m on the fence. Thanks!!

I see that this post was a couple years ago, but like you said not much online about it! I am having a winter wedding and my favorite food is soup so I'm looking into the same thing. We want to do a soup bar and a grazing table. Our wedding is very late in the day and we will let our guests know that we will have "appetizer type foods" rather than a full meal. I just think its such a fun and creative idea. Has anybody since had a soup bar at their wedding?
