South Jersey Shore Wedding

Rachel, on April 27, 2020 at 9:14 PM Posted in New Jersey Planning 0 4
My wedding is set for July 30th 2020 in avalon nj. This is southern NJ so the numbers from covid are very different from North jersey. Hoping we are okay since it's so late in July, practically August. Anyone else in the same situation? I see a lot of brides are postponing to end of july or August.

    Hi, and welcome!

I'm from South, but I live in North right now.

Looking at the numbers from this morning, North is declining, but South is actually on the upswing. This is probably because Philly is still in the thick of it, and you got hit later than we did. That said, Murphy put out a guideline for reopening today, which should help you make decisions. Please note that we have not yet hit any of the goalposts they have set for our first steps forward.

The best bet seems to be: Have a Plan B, be flexible, and don't make decisions until you *have* to... which is all very hard, I know.

Honestly, it's hard to see what July is going to be like. I'm not sure we're going to get to "normal" this year, but if your wedding isn't that big, you might be ok...

    Good luck!

Yes my wedding is under 150 so I'm hoping that even if things are 50% capacity we could still do it. I don't think South Jersey should get hit as hard as north. And since we aren't set to open soon maybe the slow opening will actually help. He keeps saying weird comments about schools and the beach so maybe there is hope

    Hi Rachel,
Im getting married in Sea isle city! Right next to Avalon. I spent the last seven years or so living in Sea isle full time and became well aware of cape May county area. Our original wedding date was May 30th but we pushed it back to October 2020. I am hoping by July it will be safer and there will be lifted restrictions. I think we should know a little more about which regions he in NJ may be first to open soon. He recently posted guidelines today or yesterday I think it was (like. 6 tier plan or something). My heart goes out to you, fellow jersey girl! Hope that it all works out for you and Avalon is such a gorgeous shore town for a wedding !!👰 💙⛪️

    Hi Rachel,

There are many resources on our website that may be helpful as you navigate the planning process. This is a great place to start: Our COVID-19 Weddings Advice Guide. You'll find articles like this one: What to Do About Your Wedding During the Coronavirus Pandemic.

And here's another discussion specifically about July 2020 Weddings! OsQM71bUJ0Qu4ly8UKJOrw-4MNRCjpvLo-YljRdj

First things first, I recommend that you call or email your venue and see how they're handling July events. Things are changing daily, so keeping the lines of communication open is important. That way, you can make decisions in a timely fashion.

    Good luck! akxoU0fWxdmfE9sHUjjkYB-ICl1lHJDh_sCPQOky
