Spain Destination Wedding

Carissa, on September 13, 2018 at 5:20 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 17
My fiancé and I are planning to do a destination wedding, and we’ve always wanted to visit Spain. We are considering a destination wedding in spain, preferably at a rental home and near the ocean. We’re keeping it intimate, with family and bridal party. Has anyone here done this before? Any suggestions? Thank you!

I haven't been to a wedding in Spain, but have been to many different areas in Spain. Madrid, Segovia, Toledo, Carmona, Cordoba, Valencia, Seville, Barcelona, Montserrat, etc. Have you been before? When thinking of the ocean, Cadiz in the south or Tarragona near Barcelona are beautiful. I had a friend from the island of Majorca and though I haven't been there, the photos she showed me were absolutely stunning.

Spain is absolutely beautiful and each region is so distinct. Andalucia is my favorite - from Granads to Cordona to Sevilla to Cadiz, I find this region to be so charming.

Keep in mind you will have to have a civil ceremony in the US before or after because your ceremony in Spain will not be valid.

How can that be? The United States and Spain are both members of the Apostille Convention, so the wedding should be legal in the United States?

I’m planning a wedding in Spain now! Have been to Spain but not the venue.

As as far as marriage applying to the US my understanding is that for a civil ceremony to apply, at least of you has to be a Spanish citizen. Catholic ceremonies do apply.

I just want an area in the south that someone has good recommendations or knows of someone who has had a good experience at a venue. Maybe a good wedding planner there?

Awesome-looks beautuful- we are now looking at Granada, Seville or Toledo. I think I looked at H. de San Rafael online but not sure we need a place for 30 to 40 ppl - maybe need closer to a city so they can stay at a hotel. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Hello ,
I was searching for forums or blogs about destination weddings in Granada or Seville and came across this one . Although it’s old I’m hoping someone will see this and give me their advise n opinion.. Looking to have a intimate destination wedding with about 40 guests . All of us coming from USA n have never been so this will also be a vacation for everyone coming . My dilema is I thought I found the perfect venue in Granada but I’ve been informed they will not be open after this year . I’d like to be sure were pandemic free by then so was thinking May of 2020 due to the climate / weather . Do not want hot uncomfortable weather . I’d prefer spring like sight seeing comfortable weather because I want to marry outdoors in beautiful gardens with architectural views . So I’m looking now in Seville ! Anyone out there can give me there opinion on Granada vs Seville for 40 of us to travel to Spain for my wedding / vacation??? I’m confused as to which is a better city for a magical venue n for vacation . Appreciate any opinions or recommendations! ☺️

    Hi Les!
I have been to Granada and agree it’s beautiful. A friend and I were discussing it yesterday though and she’s been to both Granada and Seville. She thinks Seville is more beautiful actually! I haven’t been but she adores that city. Forty people is a very manageable number so I feel as though you will have lots of options. I’m using a Marbella-based wedding planner to help me so I definitely recommend reaching out to someone to assist you, makes everything so much easier. 😊

They're both beautiful! Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with either. I have lived in Granada and have spent about a month in Sevilla, so I know them both pretty well. Sevilla is a larger city while Granada is smaller, but both are in Andalucía and therefore have the southern Spanish vibe with tapas, flamenco, Islamic influence, and gorgeous architecture. Granada also has a bit more of an alternative/hippie vibe. Smiley smile I second Sandra above – definitely look into a wedding planner – I'm using a Barcelona-based wedding planner and she has been a godsend!
