Sparkler Send Off Help

Lauren, on May 8, 2017 at 4:36 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 14

Has anyone done a sparkler send off? We really want to do this and were thinking of getting the 36 inch sparklers because they last longer. My concern is how did every one get their guests to light theirs? Matches? Candles?

Probably a lighter. You might want to check with your venue and see If they are allowed.

I participated in one, but not the 2nd one. Thankfully no one does them, in our area. They stink ... regardless.

Following! And keep in mind, your guests can light the sparklers of other guests with theirs.

We use a small blow torch to light them or the long lighters. Make sure you can 36 inch sparklers at your venue. We don't allow that size at my work. The staff will light them.......they go out a few minutes before reception is over and hand them out as guest leave. It makes for a pretty photo for sure.

Meant to add that once we light one the guest help out.

We plan on having a sparkler send off as well luckily, our venue allows it. I'd definitely check with your venue before you get your heart set on the idea though.

Part of our wedding favors are matches- so we figured they would be used.

FH's best friend did a sparkler send-off, and the bride spent so much time fiddling with her cloak before the "grand exit" that someone was badly burned by the sparkler burning down to the base. Be careful with these.

We won't start lighting the sparklers until they are ready to come to prevent burns. But, you may have people who have been drinking........lighting sparklers for people who are tyspy can be painful. I speak from experience.

I recently attended a wedding that did a sparkler send off, they lit their sparklers by having someone at the end of each side light theirs and then every 4-5 people would light theirs off of a already lit sparkler. I actually worked really well and the sparklers were lit pretty quickly. We decided to do one and will be doing ours the same way. We have a DOC that will be helping to make sure everyone is lit quickly and there are no issues.

My FH really wants to do this. But I'm so hesitant. Alcohol, loads of hair products and fire in a stupidly expensive dress just does not sound like a good combination to me. I've been to a couple of weddings where they've done them and they used the big 36" ones. There was only one incident of a burn mixed in there, and it was nothing really. Anyway, sorry that's not helping you. In both instances they had those long clicky lighters and everyone just lit theirs off of everyone else's

You know my FBIL did this and it didn't work out well. There weren't enough matches or lighters at once. They also burn off within seconds. So have them handy.
