Sparklers AND bubbles?

Emilie, on October 18, 2017 at 3:33 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 8

Just curious, anyone doing a send-off with both sparklers and bubbles? Our send-off will be at night, so I like the sparklers for the lighting aspect, but I also think bubbles are pretty. I considered doing both and was assured the bubbles wouldn't like catch fire or anything (haha!), but I still haven't really seen it done and I can't even find pictures of it online, really. Anyone tried this? I know I'm way far away from this part in the planning process, of course, but I'm enjoying looking at smaller, very fun details this far in advance and exploring possibilities.

Thanks! Smiley smile

I mean, it's a nice idea, but how will people see bubbles in the dark?

Would you just have both out and ask people to grab one or the other? What if more people grab bubbles than sparklers and then it's just dark?

@Mermaid and @Spaghetti -- I've seen bubbles done at night. You can usually see them just fine because they reflect flash photography Smiley smile

I'm doing a bubbles exit from our ceremony (same venue), we'll be leaving the bubble vials on chairs with a note that says, "To congratulate the new Mr. and Mrs." or something along those lines. Our venue won't allow sparklers, and as I've seen a a wedding I was a recently, the guests were ushered out 5min before the end of the party and were actually fairly unhappy about it. They wanted to keep dancing and enjoying the rest of the party... They started chanting, "One more song!" and the DJ would respond, "No!"

Be aware that your guests may not like being asked to leave the party early.

ETA: Also, the coordination of sparklers is crazy, you'll need the long 32" ones, which could spark to a dress or someones hair. You'll also need multiple people with something like a blow torch walking by to light them. Last, drunk guests and sparklers don't mix. I've seen it, it's not pretty.

We aren't doing a send off at all. I want to stay with my guests.

I think we're doing glow sticks. Bubbles can stain and discolor dresses. I worry that the lack of rain in the past few months here would mean that sparklers might start a fire. (I'm also not 100% on what my venue said about sparklers)

I think it would be beautiful! Also bubbles would be a great safe alternative for children!

@Jurnee D - I wondered if maybe I should do bubbles for kids and sparklers for adults! I haven’t decided yet. I want to see what it looks like but I can’t find any pictures!

I didn’t even think about sparklers being potentially a fire hazard for dresses and stuff (I’ve always been afraid when holding them, but never heard a bad story until now) and now I’m nervous. Such gorgeous lighting though!
