Sparklers, bubbles, or confetti

TheOGJesse's Girl, on November 4, 2013 at 7:30 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 26

So as FH and I are leaving the venue and people are sending us off, what do you think would be best??

Confetti??? (I am pretty sure I may get told NO by the venue because of the cleanup factor)

Sparklers???

Bubbles???

My FMIL has already mentioned buying bubbles, but our wedding is a night wedding so I don't know if those would show in pictures.

Anyway, any feedback y'all have would be great!

Sorry for so many questions today.

Check with your venue. Mine won't allow confetti or sparklers, but will bubbles. The only problem with bubbles is that the soap will get on the clothes and make soapspots.

That said, I have no alternative. I don't know what we'll do (if we're doing it).

There is biofriendly confetti that literally dissolves with water so your venue can just hose it down afterwards (assuming its outside lol)

I'm having a tough time deciding on this too! My cousin just had her wedding and they did sparklers, but I'd like to do something different. I heard the same as Chloe - they do have biodegradable confetti that might work.

I also saw some good ideas such as a balloon release! It was really pretty, and they took pictures right as people were letting go of the balloons.

Are sparklers really cliche already? Yeesh. I've never been to a wedding with them personally and I think it's such a cute way to go. As long as all of your guests don't go to 5+ weddings a year I bet it will be novel and fun for the majority of them. And ultimately who cares if you pick something "trendy" or whatever, what's important is what will make you smile and make your heart feel warm. That was sappy of me but it's true! Smiley smile I vote sparklers. You're right, bubbles probably wouldn't show up at all if the sun has set. I've been to a wedding where they used bubbles and it seemed like they didn't actually make it to the happy couple before popping, kind of anticlimactic.

We are doing the biofriendly confetti right after the ceremony so it shows in picture. Our wedding is in the evening.

Careful with balloon releases. What comes up must come down and balloons are horrible for the environment. I'm not an Eco-freak, but that's needless litter and could kill animals.

I've been to weddings where timing was an issue with sparklers. Sometimes all the sparklers are out by the time the couple gets to the 'send off area'. Just something to consider if you are not the super organized type. I think I'm gonna go with classic rose petals.

I love sparklers if you can get it to time correctly like hellothere said.

I'd definitely check in with your venue first. Like @Erica said, mine also won't allow sparklers and they are VERY picky with confetti. It has to be the special biodegradable kind and even then, it just makes a huge mess.

Bubbles are cute... but if you're having a pro photographer, ask them what they're opinion is. Mine told me that while bubbles look really cute, sometimes it can mess with the photos because a lot of the fancy cameras they use with try to focus on a bubble that just popped up in front of the lens instead of you guys. Which can sometimes make a neat photo... but also could be annoying or make your exit photos really iffy.

Again, if you're having a pro photographer, ask them for ideas. Not only have they probably seen a gazillion exits, they can help recommend some ideas that will also photograph well.

We used wild bird seed, but seeing that's it's small I doubt you'd see it at night.

I like the sparkler idea. Smiley smile

Bubbles will leave little round brown stains on your dress, if its made of certain materials. Dont do bubbles unless you arent wearing white.

Sparklers would be your best option but you need the ones that burn a long time. Do your research, because normal sparklers will go out before they all get lit.
