Sparklers inside city limits?

Private User, on August 27, 2015 at 3:03 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 7

I'm trying to figure out if I can have sparklers at our send-off. Since our reception is inside Houston city limits, I'm not sure if there is an exception to the firework ordinance. Anyone know?

I don't know about that but I will say that while those look great on pintrest everything I've heard from people IRL says they aren't really a great idea. Tipsy/drunk people (and sometimes children) in formal wear with hand held fire? If you do it just be very careful and make sure that people haven't been drinking too much (keep them away from hair!). Also, you might want to look into insurance because depending on the laws where you are if anything happened you might be liable.

As my sister's friend said, "I don't know what I was thinking, by buying sparklers for my daughter's wedding. We ended up with a bunch of drunks careening around the parking lot, with fire."

I always laugh about that. Like, what should we give to all these drunk people right at the end of the night? I know! Sticks with FIRE!!

Could you do a sparkler exit from the ceremony instead? People shouldn't be drunk yet.

ETA: Ask your venue about Houston's rules.

I'm pretty sure the Pavillion on Gessner does it all the time.

I was thinking of doing the same thing, were not having alcohol at the reception.

Ask your venue, they will know the laws and any rules they themselves have about them.

We did a sparkler send off at the end of the reception - with alcohol - and it turned out great.
