Super December 2014

Special request on your wedding day.

Jeremy and Alysha Cooks, on May 17, 2012 at 2:40 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 16

What are they?

Ours is to 'forget' the napkins. I always make an eleven-course meal that is AMAZING and make a VERY beautiful table, but I ALWAYS forget the napkins. So, our special request for the venue is to 'forget' them. Smiley laugh Not everyone will get the joke but the people that have spent enough time at our house will completely get it right away. Smiley laugh

That's awesome! I love it. Mine is during the ceremony and a SECRET from my FH. The officiant is going to begin with "Mauiage is what bwings us togever today" (those are not typos lol) the line from "The Princess Bride". The wedding party will love it and my FH will "bust a gut"

Mine is that no one accompany my FH when he sings my song. (not everyone knows it's my song and during the Open mic's that FH hosts sometimes our friends get up and play guitar alongside him, but I like it best when it's just him up there)

At the end of our kiss (and "you may now kiss your beautiful wife"), I stopped the officiant and said "WAIT, LET ME UPDATE MY FACEBOOK STATUS TO MARRIED" (FH says I'm an FB freak....). Everyone got the joke, and the officiant said "Wait, you're not married yet" and then the introduction as Mr. and Mrs. __________ and then said "NOW you can update your status"!

I have a Princess Bride ceremony request also. At the very end of the book in the movie the grandpa say “Since the invention of the kiss there have been five kisses that were rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind.” We are having the officiant say this as we do our kiss. It's my favorite line from the movie so FI ask our officiant to make it happen. *^_^*

My special request was that after the cake was cut, the DJ announced that all guests were able to change into comfy clothes, mainly of a tropical theme. Most of our guests did change and it made the party that much more of a party.

FH and I have a long standing joke that if we ever got married we wouldn't waste our money on a fancy dinner and wedding cake and instead would serve Arby's roast beef sandwiches and Zebra cakes. Obviously with our actual budget being 9k we were kidding....but FFIL thought that was a GREAT idea because he LOVES Zebra cakes. We are making an elaborate tower of Zebra cakes on a fancy platter as part of our dessert buffet to carry that joke through.

We have asked FH's brother to officiate our wedding , though his uncle may (he's a judge). I want him to add something about me vowing never to step foot into the kitchen unless I am baking...he-he. Our families know I can't cook and since FH is a chef he never wants me to even learn. My job is to learn to bake so we can be the perfect team!

I didn't have a special request per say...but more so a special surprise. Everyone knows how obsessed with penguins my DH is so I arranged for the penguin ring bearers. It made the wedding unique in that way.

We haven't quite decide what we are going to do yet, but since this year both sets of parents are celebrating 35 years married, we are going to do a surprise for them.

Maybe play their first dance songs, or something.

That is sweet. I was thinking about giving flowers to all the married couples or the longest married couple. I know for sure we will have 3 empty seats with a rose on each one and a name plate. One for my Great Uncle (whom I was VERY close with) my Grandpa (whom passed away right before I was born but I wish I could have met such an amazing man) and FH's Grandpa (whom loved both of us dearly and could not wait to see us get married) he will be watching from a better view though. Smiley laugh

My FH is a third generation fighting Texas Aggie so after our vows, we will walk out to the Aggie battle hymn. I'm hoping follow Aggies will join in and sing along Smiley smile
