We're doing 8 nights at the Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana, all inclusive with their adults only upgrade package for 2400. Airfare is being paid for by my mom's points but it would probably end up around 800. There are tons of affordable all inclusive resorts there if that's a place you're interested in.

We're doing Lake Louise, in Alberta. 10 days was $1500 CAD, plus a rental car $500, plus flights (from Toronto) $1000. Banff National Park is supposedly phenomenal.

The Canadian dollar is really low compared to the US dollar right now, so if you're planning to visit Canada, now is a really smart time.

Good luck with your honeymoon planning Heather! I know you will book something great. We are most likely going to the Sandals resort in St. Lucia, but other all inclusive are also nice and cruises. If you get motion sickness, the ships always have tons of dramamine in the infirmary or you can buy some before you go. Take the pill 30 minutes before the ship departs and you should be golden!

I actually take prescription strength Dramamine and I can barely make it through a direct flight. St. Lucia sounds nice.

We went to Ireland last April for vacation. A combo deal of airfare, hotels, & rental car (automatic with full insurance) cost us about $2300. Then another $1000 or so in spending.

We booked through Great Value Vacations.

I too am looking for a honeymoon destination for my October wedding in Texas. It is such a tough decision because we are already spending so much on the wedding it's kind of like... how much should we spend on a HM? I know we want a beach location but any ideas where you can get the most bang for your buck without having to forfeit a ocean view and all inclusive?

Look into Barbados, we found some very reasonable resorts (just not all inclusive, those were a little pricey) but Barbados is great because it seems easy to navigate the island. Someone beat me to Alberta, Canada. We are going to Jasper National Park this August for 8 days and it's very doable for $3,500. Just looking up pictures of those mountains/area and my jaw drops. SO BEAUTIFUL.

We spent $3,600 on ours! 8 days/7 nights at Secrets Silversands resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico. It was all-inclusive and that prices included all gratuity, taxes, transfers, non-stop flight, etc. We upgraded to a swim-up suite, so you could definitely go for less in a lower room category or for less days.

We went to riviera maya for $1800 total including flights for 7 days 6 nights.

    All inclusive

    Some tips:

-go in shoulder season. We went in November right before peak (Jan-Apr) and saved about 40% it only rained one day so we did the spa that day.

-fly direct. Anywhere your home airport flies direct to will be cheaper because it's a common flight and likely a hub for a major airline. We chose riviera maya because Delta flew direct there from our location

    - buy excursions ahead of time. We got a fabulous deal on an all day sightseeing and booze cruise for $50 each that was $100 each at the resort

-do all inclusive so you know the price up front. A honeymoon might be $1500 but you could easily spend $100 a day or more in meals.

There are a lot of great all-inclusive options in the Caribbean & Mexico that would fit within your budget. It really just depends though on what you're looking for. If you want something that is adult only, and all-inclusive, you may want to consider a 5 or 6 night stay so that you can have a really great room and extra amenities. If you want to stay within the US, your options are endless.

Check out Iceland. It is beautiful! FH and I went a little bit ago for around $3,500 total. We went in the winter though. I would check out Expedia and look at the deals you can get with flights and hotels.

We would have all these options available to us if my doctor hadn't told me to avoid the countries on the Zika Travel Advisory. I'm still looking up all these great ideas. Thanks.

Flying into Denver and driving 1.5 hours to Vail...you can stay at the Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch for about $2200 for 5 nights. It looks so nice there!

Hey Heather - just saw your comment about avoiding Zika destinations. That takes the southern US, Caribbean, and S and Central America off the list, including most of the resorts recommended here.

In which case, the northern Us or Canada would be great options for a summer honeymoon! Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and western Canada are stunning and the Canadian dollar is low right now. Or you could go glam-camping in Yellowstone or Big Sky country, B&Bs in Vermont, beaches in Maine or Cape Cod. Lots of options!

Check out cheapcarribean.com. They have some great deals on packages depending on where and when you go. We are doing a week in Puerto Vallarta for under $2000 (airfare & all-inclusive resort). Excursions are extra but we have some extra money for those. Just do your research as it can be done.

We live in FL so we wanted something different and went to UT. Even in the summer it would be a gorgeous place to visit. Mountains, Arches National Park, Lakes, basically a nature lover's dream. We spent about $2,500 for 5 days including the flights.

If you want to travel internationally, Brazil is waiving the need for a visa from June through September since they are hosting the Olympics this year.

Regarding the Zika advisory, but DH's family lives in Rio and the threat isn't as bad as our media is making out. July is in the middle of their winter and when the mosquitoes are naturally minimal. Living in FL where we are also on the warning list, you can't let the threat stop life. As long as you take precautions to repel mosquitoes, you should be fine.
