I’m looking to book flights for our honeymoon and Spirt has the best deal. Does anyone have any experience (good and bad) with Spirit airlines? We will be flying to Jamaica.

Its the Greyhound of the sky. But- Its serves its purpose. When FH and I were long distance it was a huge wallet saver. IMP its a risk assessment based on other available flights.

It's definitely not luxurious. No drinks or food. No movies. No music or headphones. Just a flight. If you don't mind that you'll be fine.

I know they cancel/delay flights and charge for all your baggage. I think ultimately you would end up paying the same price as another airline company. I preferably love JetBlue and Delta.

I flew spirit to montego bay for my honey moon and didnt have any issues. We paid for the front row because we were treating ourselves but it is expensive to upgrade seats and I have had delays with them in the past.

I've never had a bad experience with Spirit honestly. I've never been canceled on. Yes, delays happen, but its never more than 30 mins. FH and I use them for short trips flying home for the holidays and we just put all of our stuff in one check in bag. Still comes out cheaper than other airlines if you are trying to save a bit.

FH and I got flights to Grenada and back for super cheap on JetBlue, and I really feel like they are the gold standard of flying coach. You get one checked bag free, the seats are comfy and roomy (as far as coach is concerned), and the customer service has always been awesome IMO. Oh, and on longer flights in the newer planes they leave the "pantry" open and customers can just help themselves to anything. I love that!

I've never flown Spirit so I can't speak from personal experience, but I have never heard a good thing about Spirit. I've known multiple people that have had lost luggage and cancelled flights. One guy ended up stranded in a place that he had a lay over and his luggage ended up in a random city that he had never been to. I've also heard a lot of people mention that when all is said and done it really doesn't end up cheaper.

Not bad for a short flight but I would not do it on my honeymoon! JetBlue and Southwest are much better budget airlines. Also, I like to use Expedia for travel to a tropical resort because you can usually get a discount for book airfare and hotel together. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays are the cheapest days to book your travel on. And if you haven't booked yet, just keep an eye out and look for sales. I've heard Black Friday has great deals on hotels.

They are bad. Very bad. i would only book them for short flights (like San Diego to Las Vegas) because otherwise you're crammed into an overstuffed cabin in tiny seats (and I am a smaller than average person) for hours. Plus they charge for CARRY ONS (who does that?!).

I would only take Spirit on a SHORT flight, like, under 2 hours.

Worst airline ever. Don't do it, find a different flight. They'll probably cancel your flight there and back at a moments notice and you'll spend way more on makeup flights than you would have saved by booking spirit. They also charge for basically any bag bigger than a wristlet (that's sarcasm, but they suck).

If Southwest or JetBlue fly there, check their prices. We fly Southwest 4x a year and they're fantastic.
