Split Wedding Dates

Bryan, on February 17, 2021 at 9:11 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5

Due to the size of our wedding and local covid guidelines and restrictions, we have to have our wedding this year with our immediate family and our wedding party, while having our much larger reception with the rest of our family and friends next year(2022). We are struggling on how we tip our vendors that are servicing both events. We don't want to come across cheap and tip more at one event vs the other or too little at either time. Has anyone had to do multiple events like this and how did you handle this situation?

You wait until after the event is over so you are able to assess with an objective view who went above and beyond the call of duty (those are tipped) and who had bad service, was a no-show or just did their job with nothing special (none of those are tipped). You can deliver the tips at the later date.

Tips are normally a percentage of the total bill. So if you tip a vendor 15% at both events, the tip for the larger event will obviously be more, and that's expected. You should just be sure to set your tip standards the same for both events.

I'm planning on using the following guide as a general guidelines for tips unless a vendor does exceptionally well or didn't meet my expectations.

Wait until after the event so you can clearly think about who provided great customer service

Tip them separately both times. If anything, tip the first time so they give you good service again the 2nd time.
