Splurge 100%. This is what captures your memories - what you go back to years from now. I, for one, do not want to regret my wedding photos, of all things. I found a photographer of my style, who was a little above my budget, but am so happy with him overall.

Splurge, our photographer was amazing and I totally trusted everything he did. Also because the day was an absolute blur, the pictures will let me remember everything.

Photography is where we splurged. We are spending about as much in photography as the cost of the venue.

Splurge! This is our highest budget line beside the food/beverage. I'm generally a saver but, I knew this was one area I wasn't willing to compromise on.

Splurging 150 percent! Well not really but it is on the TOP of the list. I was just telling my fiance that this morning, our pictures are what will allow us to relive that day over and over for years to come. I want it captured as perfectly as possible.

Saving! The photographer that did our engagement photos is a friend of ours who shot our engagement shots for free so he could add to his portfolio. When we offered $400 to photograph the wedding, he was totally stoked.

Again, comparison shopping has really helped. Daughter's FFIL is a semi-professional photographer and has VERY strong opinions about the wedding photography. Together with the G, they interviewed 4-5 photographers who made FFILs cut for "exceptional quality." The one daughter likes best -- both for his work and his personality -- happened to offer some discounts that will actually put him on the lower-end of the $**** range of the proposals she received. Her approach is time consuming and thorough, but between florist and photographer alone, it has saved $2500+.

Splurge 100%...I couldn't forgive myself if I tried to save a buck on some photos and they turned out awful. Good photos are worth every penny. It's the only thing you have left after its all said and done.

Thankfully our package has an amazing photographer included and we did not need to do any upgrades bc the package includes a lot. This is a save area but feels like a splurge!

Splurging. My mom chose not to and her few pics she got were so crappy. Photography is actually the most expensive part of my wedding. And well worth it

This took a huge chunk of our budget, since the photography is one of the only lasting things you have after the party is over. We splurged, but still within what we could afford.

Saved as we got a great deal on a starting out photographer who is starting out. I saw plenty of her work plus she was recommended by a friend who used her for family photos.

    If in doubt, splurge!!!

In the middle for us, again- we definitely hired a well-known pro in our area, but we booked a smaller package to save some money there. Our ceremony and reception were at the same location, and we didn't need a lot of formal shots, so we were able to get everything on a 6 hour package, rather than the standard 8 or 10.

We did splurge on an album from Artifact Uprising though, and do not regret that at all.

This was definitely a splurge. The only thing more important thing was the food. Our kids and grandkids will be looking at these pictures someday and outside of a marriage, it's all that will be left from a very expensive and important day.

Also, we're getting married in the winter the day after the solstice. It's going to be dark the entire time, from the start of the ceremony till the last guest leaves so we spent a lot of time looking at portfolios to make sure our photographer could take beautiful pictures in that situation.
