Spray Tanning-wedding Day then Honeymoon-need Advice

Nicole, on January 24, 2023 at 10:55 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 6

Looking for advice on spray tanning for my wedding. I've had one spray tan in the past and I liked it overall, I just didn't like the way my skin felt being unable to use my normal moisturizing soap (Dove-I've read it is pretty bad for spray tans).

To get ready for my wedding, I was thinking I could spray tan on Thursday for my Saturday ceremony. Here are my questions:

1. I will definitely need to shave my underarms and legs the day of the ceremony (it's just a reality). My legs won't be visible in my dress. Is this problematic? Will it ruin the tan?

2. I used unscented castile soap after my last spray tan, and it seemed to help the tan last, but my skin felt dry and I was overall uncomfortable. Are there options for body soaps that won't leave my skin feeling so tight? Are there any moisturizers I can use post-tan?

3. I will be going on a cruise with my FH immediately after the wedding and will definitely need to wear sunscreen and will be in pools/ocean a lot. Is this going to results in a super blotchy spray tan fade over the week of our honeymoon? I don't want to look gross on our honeymoon.

I really appreciate your advice! I would like to look tan, but wonder if I should just accept my baseline skin tone!

I'd for sure do your research to find a reputable place that does spray tans near you and then do a trial run with them. The people at the salon should be able to give you some recommendations on soaps/ body washes, shaving, and sun screens that work well with their products. That being said, everyone's body chemistry is different, so it would be beneficial to see how the tan lasts, whether it rubs off on your clothes, and you could maybe even try different soaps and things on inconspicuous spots to see how it reacts.

It's best to use natural products post spray tan. Soap, Body wash, and lotions with chemicals will remove the tan faster. The key to making a tan last is moisturization. I use a natural lotion called Everyone Lotion. Start using it the next day after the tan dries and has hours to set. Use it once or twice per day. Your tan should last one week.

You should also use natural based Suncreens which are on the expensive side.

Tans normally last around a week. I would be careful doing it two days before. You don’t want to risk anything coming off. I think I had to wait a day to even shower. I did an airbrush spray tan which didn’t leave me feeling a type of way I didn’t like

Thanks for this tip, Taylor! How many days out would you recommend getting the tan. I have typically read 24-48 hours before your event is the best time, so Thursday afternoon/evening would be the 48 hour mark before the Saturday ceremony.

I will definitely book a trial run. I was just hoping to get some insight from folks on products I could purchase to help maintain the tan so I could research ahead of time.
