I plan on getting some natural color outside, im assuming most will be anti-sun because of skin cancer

. spray tans are great if you go somewhere that is professional and I would def do a test run but if you are planing a beach honeymoon i would be careful because you may get some uneven patches.

I am hoping to get some beach days before the wedding to get some golden.

Spray. Tanning beds are awful for your skin.

If you've never gotten a spray tan before, go for airbrushing. An actual person will apply the tan to you, rather than the automated booth. You should try it out sooner rather than later so you know what shade works best for you, how quickly it fades, and what you'll want it to look like on the actual day.

Spray tans, even if applied by a person, can be blotchy. Not all skin takes it evenly. If you want to go this route, definitely do a test run now so that it can wear off before you apply again for your big day.

Call me crazy, but I'm going with a tanning bed for just a few weeks. I know it's bad for your skin but I don't do well with spray tans/airbrushing. I just feel so dirty.

Tanning beds are so, SO bad for your skin. Please do any other option except for a tanning bed. They are not worth it.

I’m doing the tanning bed itself too. And I know I know, shame on us. I do feel guilty but I paid so much money for my dress I do not want to risk anything. I’ve gotten spray tans before and they never last long enough imo. Plus I’ve had my spray tans rub off on clothes and come out uneven and I just don’t want to worry. I plan to start going to the beds once a week for 10 min starting in June. If the wedding is getting close and I need any darker I’ll go for more min.

It'll be harder for you get a base tan if you only go once a week unless you skin is naturally darker. I also recommend going for 5-6 minutes the first 6-8 sessions then jumping up 2 more minutes every week or so after that, depending on the type of bed you're using. Once you get to the level you want you'll only need to go once a week to maintain.

Talking to your local tan shop is best option. They know their beds, how long you should start, and how often you should go. Where I am they suggest half the max time of the bed for the first few weeks, going 2-3 times a week.

OP- I'd start sooner rather than later tbh.

I'm doing a tanning bed for a little bit as well, just to get a little base color. I'm so white that if I did a spray it would be pretty fake looking. But I don't want anything crazy dark that's not what I'm used to looking like.

Honestly, as someone who’s had a skin cancer scare (I had a growth on my back that turned out not to be cancerous) after losing my grandfather to melanoma (he had been in remission for years and it came back in his brain) I can’t understand why anyone would choose to put themselves at risk by using a tanning bed. A little bit, a few times doesn’t make it less possible for you to get skin cancer. I chose not to tan beyond what going outside did to my skin and it was fine. Was I lighter than I like? A little. Worth it in my opinion though.

Tanning beds are so bad for you. If you want to get some color, do a spray tan or one of those lotions that are available.

I'm personally going with my natural color which will be pretty pale. I have a skin spot on my arm which turned out to be benign, and my mom had a cancerous spot removed from her face, and she did use tanning beds for her wedding (not saying that's necessarily where the spot was from though).. I just don't think it's worth the risk to go to the tanning beds.

You should get an airbrush tan applied by hand, not in an automated spray booth. You should NEVER go in a tanning bed. Unless you like skin cancer, of course.

I got my airbrush tan on Wednesday for my Friday wedding.

Saying that tanning beds are bad for your skin is a huge understatement. There is a known link to skin cancer.

I’m just going outside? Like if I’m tan by then, cool beans. If not, oh well.
I tan pretty easily just being outside though and it’s usually pretty even.

I've been using a tanning bed a few days a week till I get to the color I want. Then I'll reduce to once or twice a week to maintain.
