St. Thomas Honeymoon Flights

Emily, on July 25, 2019 at 6:12 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 4
Are there any brides out there who are planning (or have planned) a honeymoon in St. Thomas? We are having difficultly finding affordable flights from SLC (west coast USA) to St. Thomas. Any recommendations on a good airport(s) to connect in on the way? Ideas we've tried are Atlanta, Miami, and Orlando. Is there a better airport that connects regularly to St. Thomas? Thanks!

When I flew to St Thomas from SLC, I think I flew through Charlotte, and then Miami

We connected in Ft. Lauderdale. If I remember correctly we also saw connecting flights from Dulles (Washington DC), New York, Boston, and Philly.

Dates are important for this route — I fly into STT every year and if I EVER try to go on a school vacation week on a Saturday, flights are literally T H R E E Times more expensive than they ought to be ! So ONE thing to consider is shifting dates slightly (it might be cheaper to leave a day earlier and pay for an extra night in a hotel!).

Anyway, Miami (American) is a big connector, Atlanta & Charlotte on Delta. New York has direct flights, 2 out of JFK (Delta & American), and there is a direct out of Newark on United. I’m pretty sure there’s a United out of philly as well. And I know there is exactly/only one direct our of Boston right now on JetBlue. I read something recently about someone connecting through DFW? You can definitely connect through Fort Lauderdale via Spirit (just keep in mind add on fees there for bags and seats). I know I have also connected through Chicago on one occasion (I think United ?)

Sadly, post hurricanes Irma&Maria, a lot of airlines cut direct flights and now there is a supply & demand issue, and things are stupid expensive Smiley sad

Note that a few of the direct flight routes are seasonal. What might help you is to reverse search. If you look at the airport’s website/online stats for charlotte Amalie/Cyril e King/Stt , you should be able to see what flights arrive and depart daily, and back track from there
