Stacking rings before the wedding?

pinksplashshell, on December 10, 2019 at 10:44 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 16
So how do y’all feel about stacking rings before the wedding? I know that traditionally, women wear an engagement ring alone and then add the wedding band at the wedding ceremony. But what do y’all think about having ring stacks before that? Maybe 1-2 bands combined with the ring and then the wedding band added at the ceremony? I absolutely love the look that stacked rings give off...just not sure if it’s acceptable before the wedding itself?

I think only you can decide what’s acceptable for you. I personally am very sentimental and didn’t want to wear anything that resembled a wedding band before the wedding, but to each their own.

Definitely do what you love and ignore the crazy wedding “rules”. FH proposed with a 3-ring set (e-ring with 2 diamond bands) and I’ve been wearing all 3 since it was resized. FH said, “I bought all 3, so you may as well wear all 3”... and I totally agreed Lol!!! I LOVE my rings and wearing them now doesn’t change anything regarding our engagement and future marriage. However I understand that some brides are more traditional. I thought about the idea of adding a very thin white gold band for wedding day. But it’s not needed and I’m not completely set on it. So we’ll see. But I say... go for it! 😉Stacking rings before the wedding? 1

I think you and your fiance can make your own rules. I wear my engagement ring and will have both bands placed on my finger during the actual ceremony. So the stacked look will be complete after we're officially married. But we chose to do it this way after having a discussion.

I think it’s completely acceptable to wear the stack. To me, I don’t really understand what the big deal is. The wedding band says that you’re married. The engagement ring says that you’re GOING to get married. Do what makes you happySmiley smile

Thats completely up to you. my DH bought me my e-ring and thats only what i wore. then my band at the ceremony. i could definitely get one more to stack on but i wanted to wait till like our 5 year anniversary or something so it also has a sentimental meaning.

Thank you (on behalf of FH because we didn’t ring shop and I had no idea.. lol!). I’ve thought about adding a plain and very thin band. But I’m still undecided.

That set is gorgeous!! I don’t blame you for wanting to wear all 3 right now! But I agree with you about adding a thin one in a different metal color for the wedding!

Thank you!! FH did a great job. It’s both of our second marriages and, this time, I didn’t want a standard solitaire style e-ring. Instead I wanted a wide 4-row diamond band. Surprisingly, FH bought something very similar to what I had in mind, without even knowing it (because we didn’t ring shop). So, I didn’t even know a proposal was coming. Lol 🙃

Maybe I will get a small band with our wedding date engraved on it or something. Still thinking about it. 🤔

I got a top and bottom band, so I sometimes wear the top one around. Why not? Haha Stacking rings before the wedding? 2

Here is mine! The band with his name on it was my promise ring I got a while back before we were engaged. The silver band between the engagement ring and the promise ring is a band that we got with the e-ring, but I wear it sometimes with the two. He wants to get me a double band for our ceremony that the e-ring fits into. Stacking rings before the wedding? 4

I love that you’re going for what makes you happy and not what people tell you is acceptable! I have a ring stack and I won’t be getting married until June! But, I am reserving the spot closest to my heart for my actual wedding ring. I love my stack and my fh knows how extra I am. Lol! Each band has special meaning to me. The white gold represents his ring (which is white gold), the rose gold with the bigger diamonds represents my self love, and the last delicate band represents the joining of our two families. Our kids are adults and they will soon be having families of their own! But if anyone can give me another reason to get another band, I am open to that! Lol!Stacking rings before the wedding? 5
