Staking down an outdoor aisle runner

Becky, on January 3, 2016 at 8:59 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 5

Hi all!

I really want a burlap aisle runner for my outdoor wedding. I know everyone suggests against having a runner outdoors but I feel very strongly about having something else to walk on other than grass/dirt. I found a burlap aisle runner I like (http://www.save-on-crafts.com/aisle-runner-burlap-natural-100.html) and am thinking of staking it down with some kind of garden stake? I found www.aperfectaisle.com but my aisle is a total of 100 feet long; I'd like to find a bit of a cheaper alternative.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

Thank you all and good luck in your planning!

Have you looked on Amazon? I got a huge length of burlap table runner on there for pretty cheap for thanksgiving last year.

If you don't mind the edges not being sewn (or if you have someone with a sewing machine who wouldn't mind doing it), you could always buy 33ish yards of burlap from Michaels (http://www.michaels.com/natural-burlap/MD005048S.html?dwvar_MD005048S_color=Burlap#q=burlap&start=1), Joann, Hobby Lobby, etc. Those stores always have a coupon for 40 or 50% off one item, and they usually specify that one cut of fabric=one item. Not sure if there are any other restrictions on fabric. I hope that helps! Smiley smile

The only thing about buying fabric is that I believe most bolts come in at 25-26 yards.

I'd suggest using a carpet runner to make a firmer surface and then covering it with the burlap. That should keep you from tripping over clumps of grass or having a heel go through the burlap.

I am concerned that you would trip as burlap on grass isn't the steadied material...
