My ring is fully-insured but it's a one-of-a-kind antique, so if I ever lost it, I'd get the full value for it, but I would never be able to get the same exact ring. I'm going to Vegas in a few weeks and now I'm kinda paranoid lol.

Any thoughts on this? Do you have a backup? Where do you wear yours? Is it not really necessary?

Chlorine doesn't damage diamonds, but it can damage the metal. It's the same reason a lot of people take their rings off around cleaning products.

Well I really don't spend to much time I chlorine, and wear gloves while cleaning.

I just feel a lot more paranoid about it getting lost or stolen from constantly taking it off than i do about it being damaged.

I actually just bought a stand in/placeholder ring. It was 6 bucks. I wear my ring for pretty much everything... Shower, gym, dishes, etc. But I had to take it in for some extensive repairs and I don't like having a bare finger. My stand in doesn't fit as well but it stopped me from having my little "where is my ring?" stress outs while my ring was in the shop. It also won't fit with my wedding band but it's better than nothing

Honestly, if I was worried about losing my ring on vacation, I just wouldn't bring it. No need to get a pretend engagement ring.

Realistically speaking, having an engagement ring that you constantly have to worry about is going to be a big pain, unless you are the type who would only wear the engagement ring on special occasions. After all, even at home there is no guarantee that the ring won't get lost or stolen. All you can really do is make sure it's ensured, and recognize that you will always be taking some risk of loss.

I don't think it's necessary. I'm not taking my ring off for anything. The only thing I'd be concerned about is sketchy areas, and then, I simply turn my ring around so it's a plain slim band showing.

    Thanks everyone.

It's more of the fact that my ring is from the 1920s, and an heirloom piece, so if I lost it, while I'd get the full value for it, I would never get the same ring back. I'm not worried about it being damaged...it's platinum and has held up really well for how old it is.

I think I will wear it and just make sure I leave it in the safe when we are at the pool.

I bought a cubic zirconia ring with the intention of just wearing it on my honeymoon because I hate the feeling of not having my ring on my finger but I've started to wear it any time I travel or if I'm by the pool or doing something where I'm afraid my ring may get lost or damaged. My ring is insured however the thought of not having the ring my fiancé had in his hand when he got down on one knee and proposed is not something I ever want to happen!
