Standing room?

I feel like I already know the answer, but we will be keeping the ceremony short, hopefully 30 min tops. Our ceremony venue has very limited built in seating, is it in anyway acceptable for some guests to stand? There's free booze and a great party after! And the ceremony is pretty cool too... ?

I have arthritis and cannot physically stand for that long, but most of my friends don’t know this. With a large wedding like yours, you have no idea the personal situations these people are in that may prevent them from standing. Please provide seating.

My wedding ceremony will be outside and can only fit around 60 and we have around 100 guests. Our plan is to state on the invitation that the ceremony is private, that way we can coordinate the invites for the ceremony so that we don’t have people standing. So the invitiation is basically for reception only, and those invited to the ceremony will receive a small message saying please join us for our private ceremony with reception to follow. I hope this helps.

You could just invite a small number of people to the ceremony and everyone else to the reception.

My sister actually told me to do this because she went to a wedding where they stood, and she said it felt like a way more intimate wedding. I’m not sure what we’re doing yet. If we did have people stand, it would be around a few rows of seats and it would be to make sure there’s enough room for the cocktail hour afterwards (since our venue can’t take ceremony chairs out for the cocktail hour.)

Ok I am in the minority, but I don't think it would be a big deal. Sounds like a great venue. Can you cut the ceremony to maybe 15 or 20 min? Also just make sure any seats are saved for elderly or people who need to sit. I'd make sure that the standing was clear for guests on the wedding website, so that they don't wear uncomfortable shoes. I'm being very explicit in my website and in personal convos that all guests need to wear comfortable shoes because my guests will be dancing around town for a half hour.

Thanks, that was kind of my train of thought. Yes we can cut it down, it's not even written I was just thinking start to finish 30 minutes was short. We'll see I've got quite a while to figure it out!
