Start on time or late?

I'm the kind of girl that is pathologically early for everything. If I'm on time I actually feel late. Obviously I would never start my wedding ceremony early, but is it expected that it will be slightly later? I have yet to be to a wedding that started on time. A delay of 5 min I could handle but...

Our ceremony is starting at 5:00 and at latest 5:05. I am definitely an on-time person and don't mind accommodating late guests as they are traveling to celebrate us, but still. We have timelines to meet and vendors to pay, so if needed, a slight buffer is ok, but I wouldn't go past 10 minutes.

    HI Kaye,

Maybe pick a special number? Folks who do a lot of theatre say that opening the curtain 7 mins. late guarantees a successful show. If the number is important to you, it may not feel late or early!

I'm actually pretty stressed about this; if we don't start on time, I probably won't get to go to any of my cocktail hour. Not a huge deal, but with the current schedule we'll get to the reception between 15 and 30 minutes before cocktail hour ends...plan on making it pretty clear that we're starting right when the invitation says to start!
