We got our marriage certificate yesterday! YAY!! It's pretty exciting to have it be totally official, I've felt married for quite a few years now so it's nice having it in writing!

Anyway I'm going to the social security office today to start the name changing process and am really excited! I can't wait to take my husband's last name! I've decided to keep my middle name, and have my maiden name be a second middle name so I don't have to give it up completely (and I love my middle name).

Any advice from those that have gone through the process? I have a decent game plan of which order to do everything in, but maybe others have some advice?

If you're not married yet, are you planning to change your name, and if so how are you changing it? Hyphens? Replacing your middle name? Etc.

Glad you're healing HIH and good luck with the process! It's a little encouraging that a few people are making their maiden name their middle name- this is what I'm thinking too. I am Alietta Middle Middle Last. And I'm thinking of making it: Alietta Middle Middle Maiden Married. I already have four names, what's one more?
BTW: whenever I say this possible married name to myself, I feel like Dot from Animaniacs calling herself: Princess Angelina Contessa Louisa Francesca Banana Fanna Bo Besca the Third, lol.

I did the same thing you did (maiden name becomes second middle name) and went to the ss office last Friday. It was a pretty quick and easy process. I am going to the DMV tomorrow then will deal with credit cards, new ATM card, etc.

I got married 8/8/15, went to SS office on 8/26/15 and rec'd my card in the mail on 9/1/15. I'm in Texas (Collin County) I went to the DL office on the same day, was in and out both places in a total of 45 mins. I did complete paperwork at home the night prior.
I'm upset that I have to pay $110 for another passport as my passport was issued 8/11/14 so just barely over the year mark...SMH
