Starting to regret my dress

Shelby, on December 26, 2019 at 11:59 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 44
I got my dress and I love it, well I did at first ... I’m gunna get it fitted once it comes in, and get straps added on it , but my mom hates it, to the point of body shaming me because my body just doesn’t look good in the dress. I’m torn , what do I do? I mean I’m getting on a hard core work out and strict diet for my wedding , but it’s to the point to where she is saying that loosing weight won’t do anything because I have “ curves” ..
What do I do, and how can I stop feeling regret for my dress now? Starting to regret my dress 1

I understand how it feels to have a very opinionated mother. But, at the end of the day it’s how you feel, and if you love the dress just ignore her. Honestly the dress looks great on you. I wish I had curves to show off!

When the dress is in the right size and fitted to your body it's going to look amazing on you!! It hugs you in all the right places. Yeah you got curves and they were made to be flaunted! If you love it that's all that matters. People like to project their issues onto others.

I would say stop worrying about your mother. If you love the dress without her opinions then keep it. What have your friends said?

Your dress, your day. Moms opinion doesn’t count, especially since you already bought the dress.

P.S. I think you look bangin in that dress! Gorgeous pick!

Your hourglass figure looks amazing in that dress!! I personally think your mom needs to be more supportive of what you want and stop making you feel bad about a dress you love and look gorgeous in.

You look incredible!! Don’t let your mother shame you into going on a “hard core work out and strict diet.” That dress looks amazing on you and there is nothing wrong with having curves. It sounds like maybe your mother is insecure about herself and is projecting that onto you!

My jaw literally dropped reading this post. I am SO sorry your mom would say those things to you. You look beautiful. Be confident in your decision and your body! Your fiancé loves you just the way you are. And, as someone already said - that silhouette is made for girls with curves! There’s NOTHING wrong with showing them off. If I were you, I’d bring supportive friends or family to your alterations appointment.

That dress was made for you. I'd suggest telling your mom that if she doesn't have anything nice to say to zip it. It's your day!

Your mom needs to chill...it’s ultimately about you feeling good in your dress. I am a curvy girl - frankly, the only curvy girl in my family as my mom, sister, aunt, cousins, and grandmother are all tiny (we’re talking 120 pounds or less with no boobs). I’m 5’0” and 160 pounds with D cups, and I got a fitted dress (I mean, I’m still getting shapewear but it’s just to smooth my middle because I’ll feel more comfortable with myself that way). I feel STUNNING in my dress. My mom loves it, but I know not everyone will because of my body shape. And girl - I don’t even care. This dress inspired me to wear a fitted dress to a friend’s wedding a few weeks ago and I felt amazing in it. Fitted dresses are made for curves - that dress shows off your incredible hourglass figure and highlights your chest in a sexy but flattering way. If you feel beautiful, it might be time to tell your mom that respectfully, you would like her to keep her opinions to herself so that you can feel like the gorgeous bride that you are.

I think you look amazing! That dress hugs your curves perfectly. Hourglass shapes are sexy, and you rock that dress. Don’t let your mother shame you into falling out of love with the dress. You picked it for a reason. Remember that feeling when you knew that this particular dress was the one? Bottom line, your wedding day is about you and your FH. If this dress makes you feel like the bride you want to be, then maybe you should kindly tell your mom that this is your day and your dress and that she should respect your decision. Hugs to you!

I think that this dress is actually for a curvy figure and accents the womans body beautifully! I'm sorry that your mother is being negative but I think it's beautiful and you should show off your figure and feel gorgeous on your day! if you are in love with it and you feel amazing then that's what matters!

That dress is meant for a woman with curves. I have the build of a 12 year old with hardly any curves and tried on something similar. It hung all wrong and I did not look stunning like you do in it. I’m sorry you’re mom is being so tough. My mom is very similar when she has something different in mind. Try not to let it bother you and remember how you felt when you tried it on and chose that dress. You look gorgeous in that dress!
