Starting to regret my dress

Shelby, on December 26, 2019 at 11:59 PM

I got my dress and I love it, well I did at first ... I’m gunna get it fitted once it comes in, and get straps added on it , but my mom hates it, to the point of body shaming me because my body just doesn’t look good in the dress. I’m torn , what do I do? I mean I’m getting on a hard core work out...

I’m torn , what do I do? I mean I’m getting on a hard core work out and strict diet for my wedding , but it’s to the point to where she is saying that loosing weight won’t do anything because I have “ curves” ..
What do I do, and how can I stop feeling regret for my dress now? cfb_1340965.jpg

I think you look amazing in it. Don't listen to your mom. as long as you feel beautiful, that's all that matters

How do you feel about the dress. It's sad your mom is doing this to you. I hope she understands that she is hurting you and it's fair to you.

Yes you have curves and that's a good thing and works with the dress. Once you have the alterations it is going to fit you like a dream. Hold out, girl!

Your dress looks beautiful on you. Your fiance loves you the way you are and I would not stress about doing any hardcore dieting or exercising to change how you look. Shame on your mother for saying such things, I can't imagine ever speaking like that to my daughter.

First, you have beautiful curves! Tell mom, contrary to popular opinion, men who love women, love curves! The dress is a bit tight across the belly , but just a tad. Taking the dress to a reputable seamstress will be important and losing 5 lbs may be all you need to make the dress more comfortable. Honestly I sent my first dress back. It didnt look great on me. I found one locally and then took it to a seamstress.

Your dress looks great on you! Love and embrace your God-given curves! There's nothing wrong with having a womanly shape! Also, if you are able to breathe and sit comfortably, then your dress is not too tight across the belly! Not even a tad!

It’s a beautiful gown! And it’s your wedding day. I’m sorry if that sounds harsh but if your mom truly knows how much you love this dress, she’ll accept you with it.

The dress actually looks nice on you. My opinion is, this is your special day and it is for you to feel confident. However, if this is the dress that allows you to feel that confidences, Honey ROCK IT! And if you think your soon to be husband will love you in it that is all the more reason.

For what it’s worth, I think this looks gorgeous!! You shouldn’t feel the need to change yourself as drastically as anyone might pressure you to. Your fiancé proposed knowing who you are and how beautiful you are just the way you are! I second guess my dress some days too, but I know there’s a reason I said yes and went for it without hesitation. And I just go back to that reassurance when I’m feeling anxious about it. I pray your nerves settle and your moms opinion doesn’t get the best of you. It’s your day, not hers. And your Husband to be will be thrilled to see your gorgeous body strutting it down the aisle!

Your post made me feel comfortable. I was dealing with dress regret for a while since my dress was kind of out of the box. It’s actually very similar to yours regarding the detail. You look great in the dress. Curves are necessary for your dress. Your opinion should be the only one that matters. If losing weight make you feel better, then do it. I’m starting my wedding weight loss journey soon too. Anywho, the dress is perfect!

What is there to body shame? You look GORGEOUS! God didn’t make us all with one body type, how boring would that be! I’m a curvy woman, and I love that about myself! I sincerely hope you can look past your mother’s criticisms and learn to see how beautiful you are🥰

It’s hard when so many people have opinions. And when it comes to families opinions are even harder. It is all about how you feel honestly, you are going to go back and forth with your dress all the time but you picked it because you loved it. I believe that no one should feel they have to stop eating and workout all the time to love their dress. At the end of the day you are walking down the isle to your FH and all the matter is that you feel beautiful and that you think he will love itSmiley smile
