Staying where we're at or adding more expenses

CountryBride, on February 18, 2022 at 6:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

So my wedding is April 23rd, 2022, It's coming up fast, I just found out that I will be getting my hefty tax refund next week, Do I just stick to what we have and pay it off., or do I splurge and spend a little more on the wedding? right now we are at 32000 for our wedding budget and we have paid 30,000 so far

Unless there was something you really wanted and couldn't get because it was out of budget, I'd just save the money.

I agree with Hannah. No reason to spend just to spend—especially with such a large family, I’m sure unexpected expenses pop up all the time and it’s always nice to continue to watch your savings grow and know you have an extra comfortable cushion.
If there’s something you were dying to have at your wedding that you think would significantly heighten the guest experience, I would consider it.

Unless spending more is going to get you something super awesome, I say either save the money and put it up or spend it on a honeymoon.

Nope, pay off the wedding and tuck any extra away for unexpected expenses in life.

If it was me, I would put the tax return in your savings account to set aside when you need it for everyday things that come up after the wedding is over.

That's more that enough but then again we cant tell you what to spend on your wedding. If you think that everything you have is good then stay. But once we say ok I got what I want we see something else and added it in lol

Don't you have 9 children, including a very recent little one? I'd save the money for sure.

With nine children and a newborn, I would definitely put that money in savings or use it for the children. Your wedding is already completely planned and nearly paid for-this is the time to sit back and relax and handle any last minute details.

Extra money is always a joy to find, but I don't think you have to second guess your vision by adding more. You've really been on top of your planning all while growing your family. Relax and enjoy while you can. Smiley smile

So after talking to my fiancé and sharing with him y’all’s wise words we have decided to pay off the wedding and keep the rest into savings. However I do get to take some and get my nails done which wasn’t in the budget

Very good decision and now you can get your nails done for the big day. Now just enjoy yourself and the process leading up to the wedding day

Although the refund is a nice surprise, I would recommend saving it rather than splurging on wedding items/services that, without the refund, you found unnecessary. Start off with a higher nest egg or invest in your future with a policy that will work towards your retirement. I know its's a LONG way off but now's the time to plan for that future event or for a baby's college education, or even for a life policy that will pay off your mortgage in case the unthinkable happens. I have a great financial planner and I'm sold! Good luck!
