STD and Invite mailing lists made with ease!

Joanne, on May 2, 2012 at 10:22 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 6

Hello WW family! My STD are finally off to their destinations! YAY!! I must say that so far I have learned a lot about creating mailing labels using Microsoft Word. I was able to create a spreadsheet using excel using my guests names, address, city, and zip code. After, in a document file, I was able to mail merge my excel spread sheet into individualized mailing labels for my envelopes. Isn't that wonderful?! It can be done with Open office as well if you do not have Microsoft. I just wanted to share my discovery with those who were unaware of this wonderful software. It definitely helped me a lot.

No. All you do is go into any spreadsheet. For most it would be Excel. In the first column, you would type in these titles in fiver rows:

    Name

    Address

    City

    State

    Zip

Next, you will fill each column with the data for each guest. (i.e. Mr. and Mrs. Pryce Taylor, 1145 Gordon Street, Queens, NY, 11248). Continue to do this for each guest in each column. Once you are done, make sure your guest list is saved.

Next, open a WORD document. Go into the tools menu and select "mail merge."

Select "labels." Then select "this document." After, you will select the size of the labels that you have purchased (I purchased Avery 8160 labels for my STDs). Next, you will select browse, in order to choose the excel file that you originally saved. Once it is selected, it will ask you if you want to convert the file (or something similar in wording). Select yes (or continue..I can't remember). Once you do this, you will see check boxes with all of your guests names and addresses. Select the guests CONT

That you want to create mailing labels for. Or you can "select all." Once you have done this, you want to click on address block or mail block. This will let you select how you would like your invites labels to be created. I will attach a link for further detail on how to do this.

For me, it was a life saver!
