Stepping over aisle decor?

FutureMrsDeShong, on December 14, 2016 at 3:37 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 17

So I know this may be a goofy question, but when I imagine walking down the aisle, I see greenery lining the aisle with lanterns. However, I don't see how people can get to their seats. Do they step over the decor? Or do they have to walk all the way around to their seats? I'll attach a picture for reference.

The probably just step over- but they might enter from the sides.

Reason 5,843 not to have shit on the ground.

They enter from the outsides not the aisle.

Folks should be directed by your ushers to walk to the end of the aisle. It's rude for anyone to walk on your runner but the wedding party of course. Beautiful decor though. I'm thinking of doing something similar. It's very ethereal, romantic.

I had considered lining my ceremony aisle with various hurricane lanterns with candles in them, but aside from being concerned about guests knocking stuff down, I am concerned about me knocking stuff down as I walk down the aisle and lighting myself on fire... so no, won't be doing that, but considering some chair decor like what @The D posted!

For this style of aisle decor, I usually see a ribbon closing off the entrance to seating from the aisle side. Guests enter from the opposite side.

I am having people come in through the outside. I don't want people walking down the aisle so we'll have it blocked off until the procession starts.

What I like about this style of decor and the ribbon close off is that it keeps guests out of the aisle during processional and recessional with regards to them taking pictures. Smiley smile

@the D that looks good! I could play around with the idea of the greenery on the chairs and maybe the lanterns right along it so there is no stepping over.

@veeismeee that's the one thing is fire in the lanterns..maybe fake candles but still, the stepping over would annoy me lol

If there's something on the ground, I am going to trip on it, regardless of whether or not it is in my direct path. I am clumsy as all hell!

You could probably find mini lanterns that could hang on the chairs, and in either case, I would definitely go for flameless! Maybe something like the attached picture?

They come in from the outside. The aisle is only used for the BP.

I actually always wondered this, especially with candles/votives on the ground. Seems like a recipe for disaster if you ask me! If I were doing that I would definitely add ribbon or something to indicate people should walk in from the outside, not through the aisle.

They are supposed to get in from the other side, but I won't be having any because my family is filled with assholes.

Every wedding i've ever been to, the aisle is left clean and free for use only by the processional and bridal party

the runner is pulled out just before the bride walks down for the bride to take clean fresh steps where no one has walked before towards the life with her new husband. I like that symbolism

I am doing a very similar look to this! except instead of a long garland running the length of the aisle, there will be a little bit of greenery with each lantern, thus leaving open walking spaces with the same look.

I've never been to a wedding where anyone has stepped over aisle decor. Most times some type of rope or barrier is there keeping people from walking down the aisle and forcing them to come to their seats from the outside.

@kristen I'll try to find a cute sign with rope to rope it off, that sounds like it would solve my problems and be easy enough Smiley smile

You might also consider using shepherds hooks lining the aisle with terrariums of greenery. That would help keep things off the ground and possibly give you part of the look you're going for.
