Sticks in water centerpieces

Samantha, on July 25, 2015 at 4:18 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 7

I'm trying to replicate the centerpieces in the picture, but can't figure out how the person got the sticks to not float to the top. The directions from the website make it so simply by saying all you need is a vase, floating cande, twigs, and water, but there's got to be something I'm missing. Any ideas?

It looks like the twigs are all long enough that they are held down and in place enough by the candles. The sticks are probably green, and not dried out, which makes them heavier as well

Yes I agree with Alyson...it looks like the floating candles are just slightly smaller than the width of the vase so that holds them down.

    Shortcut for everyone to see.

ETA: might want to change your picture from those rings to something else to get more responses

Thanks HoneyLife for the advice. I am at work right now, so I will change the picture once I get home!

Try tying fishing weights to the bottoms of the sticks, put a small layer of those clear glass pebbles at the bottom to hide the fishing weight.

Put a dab of hot glue on the bottom and glue them to the bottom of the vase, if you aren't worried about reselling (though hot glue comes off pretty cleanly)
