Stopped looking at the Budget 😫

Giselle, on December 11, 2021 at 9:10 AM Posted in Planning 0 14
Hey guys, Just here to vent a lil, I was so overwhelmed by everything going on that I decided to stopped looking at my wedding expenses. Now, I’m dreading sitting at my computer and checking where we are at $$$. Worried to see how much past my initial # we are at!

Anyone else in the same boat? Wedding is in 3 months.

Yep, I did the same thing 🤦🏼‍♀️ After postponing because of Covid I had waaaaay too much time on my hands, and filled it with new ideas for the wedding ($$&dollarSmiley winking. By the time I finally got back onto my wedding spreadsheets and updated them, we were $15k over our initial budget (ooops🤭). After the initial panic, I just decided to not stress myself out over it and just go with it- what’s done is done! Lol And we are only getting married once, so we might as well make it everything we want.

I ended up like $15k over my budget! 😅 we’re going to be able to pay at least half and know we’re already getting a chunk of money from family as wedding gifts. We’re probably going to have to take out a loan to pay the rest off. I figure we’re only (hopefully) getting married once so we just went for it lol

Our wedding will be $29k and we’ve already paid off $9k so as long as we pay off half the total ourselves before wedding gifts (we’re not going on a honeymoon as we’re buying an RV and traveling after we get married full time) then we’ll be happy 😂

This sound my story exactly! 😥 I’m definitely worried, I’m probably 20k above budget. My biggest stress are the last minute expenses, the small things I might have not think about, or unexpected additional expenses

Agreed this is a now time splurge. Also, is a mini vacation for everyone coming because our wedding is in Tulum. We are not big on gifts, but big in spending on experiences/memories. This will be one hell of a memory I hope!

Tulum! That sounds exciting! I’m in Ny but I’m getting married in Maryland. We’re big on memories/ experiences too. It’s part of what took us so long to get engaged because we wanted to go on trips first! We’re hoping to maybe go on a honeymoon a year later but getting our RV and new truck is more important to us. I hope your wedding is everything you hope for!

We're about $4k over budget, but the only things that doesn't include are things like place cards, a guest book station, and gifts I was going to give my bridesmaids on the wedding day. I'm 100% freaking out about it, mostly because, well, I don't actually have $4k. Any time I bring it up to my mom she just keeps saying, "Don't worry baby, it'll all work out". Granted, she has said she'll help with the expenses, and we're still 8 months out (to the day!!! 🥰), but I wish she'd tell me what she wants to pay for or how much she's able to pay 😅😅

I am so impressed with literally anyone who can stick to or come in under the original budget. There are so many things that just keep adding up, and I genuinely can't figure out where all the cost came from sometimes. You're not alone!

I'm also impressed with anyone who can stay at or even under their budget for their wedding! I never realized how many expenses there were until we were already partway through planning. Postponing due to COVID also did not help our budget, lol. So we ended up above our original budget.

Right? I did my best to research and plan our budget based on what would actually be feasible, and I for sure missed the mark..

I don’t think there’s any way we can estimate costs, prices are consistently changing (up), there are so many details billed individually and a lack of publicly available prices which hurts anyone that wants to shop around.

Yes! I am getting anxiety about the budget. We tried to cut down on things as much as possible but some things were inevitable. I have to get the laptop out to update it and haven’t yet!
