Strangers hijacked my room block!

AC, on May 16, 2016 at 6:31 PM

My friend couldn't book a room because the hotel said my block was booked up. So the hotel sent me a list and there are a bunch of strangers names on the list! WTF! I guess they must have gotten my code from my wedding site.

I hope you're able to get this straightened out. Like you said, it could have been an honest mistake or an oversight on the hotel's part.

I will say, public wedding websites really aren't a good idea. People can learn waaaay too much about you. I wasn't even thinking of room block hijacking. Password protect!!

Wow. People never seize to amaze me. Who has the time to search through websites to get room block codes just to get a discount at a hotel. lol I would have never thought of this myself. Hopefully the hotel straightens it out for you and your guests get the discounted rate. On the good note, if you were to be responsible for paying any unused rooms, this way they are sold out and you will not have to dish out any more money. good luck :-)

Wow, would not have even thought about that! My website it password protected out of fear that random people/people not invited would try and show up. Even so I'll make sure to remind myself to check the room names to make sure the hotel isn't messing something up. I'm sure they'll be able to help you out. Good luck!

That's crazy! Definitely contact the hotel. Now I'm going to put "Contact hotel to confirm guests" to my to-do list. More brides need to be aware of this!

Keep us posted on the outcome. Yes everyone password protect wedding websites and don't talk about the wedding in social media. That really sucks.

Hey OP- did you call the hotel and tell them to kick off the rude ass people who scammed a room off your hotel block?

Wow people are bold! Talk to your hotel, they can politely kick them off your block for you. Smiley smile

Looking for an update too. This may be the tipping point in me saying f*** it to a room block

Wow, that possibility had not occurred to me. Of course, so few people have actually used our room block I'm not terribly concerned about my own (my first few choices could not accommodate us for a room block), but thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Your hotel should definitely take those rooms back! It's sad people will stoop that low, but it happened to me. I had to get pretty firm with the hotel to kick the hijackers out. We reserved the whole hotel, and I check on their list of guests about once a month. Some lady we don't know reserved three rooms and told the hotel she was with us- she even gave them our names. I surmise she called and learned it was booked for our wedding and the clerk was dumb enough to name the wedding, and she called back later and made a reservation. Unbelievable!

Lol who would do this? People are so crazy. I would call hotel and tell them they aren't your guests. So many whack jobs in this world.
