Strapless wedding dress, boobs done fit

Savannah, on March 13, 2019 at 10:54 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
So I bought a strapless wedding dress and when I tried it on and ultimately bought it, it had boning in the sides which held everything up, great, except I had to get two inches taken in on each side. This caused my seamstress to have to take the boning out and she informed me that it would not be able to be out back in due to the drastic alterations. I was fine with it because I didn't think it would change that much. It fits everything great except my boobs so she put cups in and when trying it on in my final fitting it seemed to have fit great. My wedding is in 2 weeks so I tried it on again and it sides off my boobs. Any recommendations on what can help? Note - I can't wear a bra to push up or fill out due to the low back in my dress.https://photos.app.goo.gl/vb6kl8a5zu5bevw59

I love your dress! A lot of time when it falls down it’s actually because the waist area is too tight. Are you able to pinch any extra fabric on the side of your torso? If so, you should revisit your seamstress to have it taken in.

No I can't pinch any extra fabric. The only place that it is loose is in the boob area. Was thinking of doing an adhesive bra and then using clothing tape and taping the dress and the bra together.

I would try to check in with your seamstress again. Although the clothing tape and adhesive bra may hold it up better you deserve to have a dress that fits perfectly on your big day

I have gone back and she said she can't take anymore in. It is already tight in my bust area. If it gets tighter I won't be able to zip up. 😐

Would you be willing to add straps to it?

Honestly it looks too low, this can be caused by the waist being taken in too high. I don't know if that makes sense. The waist is the support for a strapless gown and if it is messed up bad things can happen.

There is a possibility of putting in a dart in the bust to tip the top of the dress towards the skin, but that honestly doesn't look like the problem.

The beginning of this describes your problem. It could be a long torso problem, or it could be an incorrectly taken in waist, which created a short torso'ed dress.

It is too low because it falls down off my chest.

Take it back to you seamstress to see if she can lower the waist so it fits properly, if she can't, unfortunately you will need to find another seamstress to look at it and see if it can be fixed.
