Stress induced eczema -3 weeks before wedding

Vanessa, on March 19, 2018 at 4:21 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 8
What in the world is going on! I developed a rash on my neck and it has been so itchy. I went to the doctor finally after 3 weeks of caking on lotions and she told me it’s stress induced? I have never had anything even close to this. Has anyone else gotten this and does it spread? She gave me a cream but said that it may not go away. I have 9 days until we leave for my wedding.

This has happened to me. Once the stress is relieved, the rash goes away within a day. I would suggest taking at least an hour out of your day to just relax and do nothing. Granted, you may be super busy since it's crunch time, but you will be less stressed and more rested for your big day. Good luck!

This has happened to me! I've been using an essential oil mixture that has really helped it clear up. It's a mix of the Doterra oils lavender, geranium, and melaleuca and fractionated coconut oil.

Ugh eczema is the worst! I used to have it on my eyelids in high school. It was awful. If the derm says its stress induced, do what you can to reduce stress! Meditate, relax, get more sleep, reduce caffeine... etc

Had it all my life. Now it's usually fine but brought out by certain foods, not always stress (but when you're stressed you don't always eat well). See if you feel it gets itchier worse certain meals and try to avoid those foods?

Ugh, this totally happened to me (and it was the neck, too!). I was pretty upset that my neck might look gross in photos but my mom just said "keep treating it, but don't worry too much... there's always makeup and photoshop." The prospect of photoshop honestly helped me stop stressing so much about my neck, and by the day of the wedding it was so faint that I didn't even bother asking the photographer to photoshop it away. Best of luck!

My mom has had it all her life, and uses a steroid cream, its the only thing that helps hers. If thats the kind your dr gave you dont fret, it will work!

Thank you so much for the input. I am going to try to keep calmer but of course have to ensure I get all things finished with my job and wedding.

    1. Meditation (not kidding... download headspace app, find guided mediation on YouTube or iTunes, Alexa will also put you through one if you ask her!)
    2. Does it respond to cortisone? If so, ask for a shot of cortisone not just a topical cream.
