Stress makes me sick!!

Claire, on January 29, 2018 at 12:49 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 6
When it comes to stress, mentally and emotionally I have it locked down! Physically I become a hot mess. During finals week in college I would get styes on my eyes. Whenever I'm in an airport, I always get a stomach ache. This May I am getting married. The new year started with planning kicking into high gear. Two weeks ago I got sick with the flu. This past weekend I had a sinus headache so bad that the doctor had to come over and give me a shot of muscle relaxants just so I could get out of bed. How am I going to get through these next few months? I never know that I'm stressed until I get sick. And I don't want to be sick for the next four months. Any and all advice would be appreciated!

I have really bad issues with stress as well, both physically and emotionally. I have since I was a kid, and I am a stressaholic. I have been getting better with stress within the last few years, I take calm almost every night, learned to meditate, which I do for 10-15 minutes every morning before I start my day and usually again before I go to sleep, 3 times a week i do yoga and if I am home I play calm music as background noise. I have been amazingly calm and less stressed since I started this, and I have been pretty much stress-free while planning my wedding in May, at least so far. This is just what has helps me.

I have huge issues with stress. And on top of my wedding being in 39 days, I’m moving in three weeks. I was diagnosed with bronchitis and a sinus infection last Monday. I was feeling better and now here I am a week later back in the doctors office :/ I don’t have time for this!! Following for advice, and glad it’s not just me.

I think its the most helpful if you can routinely build some stress busters into your routine. Figure out what helps you calm your mind and clear your head and make it part of your day. Maybe exercise, a hobby, a walk every night, playing woth your pets, etc. Meditation is huge too.... consider looking into a way to do that. Also, try to figure out how to schedule your "to dos" into your day so you know they'll get done and you don't need to constantly worry about it.

I’m a stressed out person too. I need to be better about the self care practices I know will help—like exercise and meditation. I once wrote a list of what I was allowed to worry about. It was a short list—basically being in a war zone, actual illness in me or my family, natural disasters actively happening to me, that sort of thing. The rest....take it as it comes. I constantly have to put things in perspective. Will anyone DIE if I don’t get my work done on time or as perfectly as I’d like? No. Work will be there. Will my whole life be ruined if I don’t get one detail of the wedding planned? No. Sometimes that helps.
