Stressed out! Trying to not to be a Debbie Downer

Sabrina, on October 29, 2020 at 7:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

I'm so STRESSED OUT!!! This covid is really doing a number on me. So I and my fiance had what to me was my perfect destination wedding planned out. Then covid comes along and ruined it. Out of fear of another cancelation we ended up pushing the wedding back to 2022 when it was supposed to be 2021. So that broke my heart and now with all of the uncertainty this virus is bringing us we didn't dare reschedule another destination wedding. After months of searching now for a venue and re-planning this whole wedding colors deco etc.. all I keep thinking about is what if this virus isn't gone by then and all of that time and effort put into this replanned wedding will be all for nothing again? or what if the world goes on shut down again?? I keep trying to stay positive but it stays in the back of my mind every time we decide on something.....Am I the only one in this covid fear funk?

I feel you. After postponing 2x this year, I don’t want to risk 2021. It’s a pandemic! Every Pandemic history wrote took about 3 years for society to live normal again. We set 2022, and one of the reason is to not have to postpone again, I can’t! It broke me to cancel 2x 💔 2022 will be safe in my opinion.

You're definitely not alone! My fiance and I postponed our wedding from July 2020 to July 2022. I lost a lot of excitement for our wedding, but the way that I look at it is, things will either be greatly improved by 2022, or people will be adjusted to a new normal by then. You also get to enjoy being engaged for another couple years, which gives you time to perfect any details for your wedding! I'm confident that things will be better by then.

Hi “supposed to be July 2020” bride! 😂 We plan sooner than July 2022 though, because Hawaiian airline gave us 2 years voucher as cancelation, and I don’t want last minute. Especially summer after a long pandemic will be crowded 😣 I was suggested to do it 2023 or 2024, but that’s wayyyyy to long. I am trying to be motivated here. Waiting over a year makes me want to sleep until then. Ugh.

So sorry you had to cancel your wedding twice. I feel like the wait is so long! I just want it to hurry up and come already! I'm with you, wake me when it's time to get married.

Are you originally a July 2020 bride too?? 😂 Glad to hear you were able to get vouchers! We got vouchers for Hawaii as well, since we were going to go there for our honeymoon, and thankfully have until September 2022 to use them. It's not fun to have to wait so long, but at the same time, it'll fly by, and your wedding will be here before you know it! At least there's time to really perfect all the details and enjoy the engagement period for just a little bit longer. When is your new date?

Yup. We eloped 1998, pregnant and broke 😂. We never had honeymoon too. And I always wanted an intimate beach wedding (just 2 of us). Now we have 3 kids, so we want to take them. So we booked a beach ceremony and we will be on our honeymoon right after. Our adult kids will take care of our bonus kid. So far no new date yet. We are flexible, but I want April if possible. Less rain, less tourist.

See, you wait a year or two. I waited 21 freaking years for dh to propose for renewal and the wedding I always dream about.

Definitely!! Are there any aspects of your wedding that you wish you had more time to plan, that you now have time to plan?

The beach wedding sounds like it will be beautiful!! April makes sense, sounds like a great time to go to Hawaii. Are you doing a wedding and honeymoon all in Hawaii? Or saving the honeymoon for a different location?

Both same location. We may island hop if the timing allow us, as planned in 2020 😊 We plan to honeymoon right after the ceremony.

We were 10/10/20 and postponed our domestic destination wedding a year to 10/30/21. However I have no sadness about it and I’m cool with the postponement (and actually more excited about the new date we selected). But I don’t think the virus will be gone by 2021 or 2022 for a few reasons So I’m not banking on that. But, at least, it won’t be new anymore and we will have more experience living life through it. I know we all wish that we could predict the future. But since we can’t, we have to keep living, planning and moving forward with life. There’s no need to stress about the unknown. So, instead, expect and plan for it (especially now). But try not to stress because it’s useless energy and quite unhealthy. Also if it’s causing a high level of stress, then take a step back because that’s way too much pressure, expectations and weight being put onto just one day. Your wedding will be a fun and beautiful celebration regardless. Best wishes, breathe and try to relax! 😃

Actually gives us more time to plan our honeymoon and now alot of places and airlines are offering deals that can be fully refunded if not used by a certain time or if the world gets put on stand still again so thats exciting 🤗
