Hello all, what to do what to do. When is the right time to do everything? I already booked the hall, the DJ, got my dress and working on makeup and hair what else should I be worried about right now?? I’m getting married on September 24th, 2022.

No need to stress just yet as you have over a year before your wedding. What about a photographer, caterer, baker, florist? You could look into those things next if you haven't already.

Now is the perfect time to get together a planning timeline with deadlines that you'll need to consider/buy things by. I'm October 2022 and I've gotten all the vendors I can taken care of, so I've been picking away at the little paperwork stuff and trying to track and write down everything. If you guys are doing a hotel block you can look into those as well. It's also a good idea to start trying to figure out the logistics of the day now so you can keep ironing things out as time goes on.

That’s a great idea thank you. Uhm, I’m not doing a block jus because I don’t want my guests to feel like they have to stay at a hotel I choose incase they can’t afford it and what not so I’m gonna let them choose when they get here.

IF you have quite a few guests who either have to travel more than an hour or so for the wedding I would considering contacting a couple hotels (talk to the sales department NOT reservations) about a number of rooms at a specific rate. The challenge with leaving your guests to their own is they won't necessarily know what is close to your venue & would likely end up paying more (especially those who don't do anything until the last minute &/or you are getting married over a holiday or school break weekend). AND if you are going to have an open bar you might at least consider one so your guests aren't driving after a few drinks. (We had a small block at our hotel/venue AND guests in our block paid less than 1/2 what ended up being the price for "non-group" rates the week we got married ~ most guests didn't stay but those who did appreciated the option).

Weekends in October which would usually cost more are around Columbus Day (the school kids usually have a long weekend or Fall break either right before or after that day) and around Halloween not to mention some cities have large events/concerts in October which will drive up the rates.

It's not like your guests have to book rooms at the hotel you suggest ~ but some may find it helpful to at least know what the options are ~ even IF you decide NOT to do a wedding block.

Booking a block of rooms as early as the hotel will let you might help your guests out cost wise as well as convenience wise. Im getting married the same day as you (yay!!) And had contacted a hotel back in March about getting a block of rooms. They quoted me room rates and gave me all the information but said I couldnt block rooms until 18 months out. Fast forward to end of June when I called to block rooms and they had switched companies that handled blocks of rooms and their rates per room had gone up but since I had a quote in writing they are honoring the previous quote and giving my guests the rooms at the cheaper price.
