String quartet song recommendations

I would ask them for recommendations! Also, I’d make sure they don’t charge extra for learning new pieces if you choose to go that route. I played in a string quartet for 12 years and we had a set of music we always played at weddings.

Beethoven's Ode to Joy is a great upbeat song for the recessional that sounds beautiful played by strings. Canon in D is a traditional processional song that is often played by strings.

The groups I’ve played in have always been happy to play whatever the bride requested, but it’s on the bride to get the music in a timely manner. I just reached out to ours for recommendations the other day. They sent me some suggestions of classical music, plus some contemporary songs they already know. If they have to learn a new song they will charge us, but they have a large selection so I don't anticipate that.

I, too, wanted upbeat and modern to end the ceremony. We had our string quartet play Marry You by Bruno Mars. Our processional was the Feather Theme from Forrest Gump.
