Struggling with bridal processional song

Lauren, on March 25, 2015 at 8:31 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

Hi all Smiley smile I'm hoping to find some advice here regarding my processional song. My bridesmaids will be walking down the aisle to Christina Perri's A Thousand Years, in which my sister will be singing. However, I want a separate and non-vocal processional song for my entrance. But I have no idea what song will sound good after A Thousand Years. It can't be too traditional because of the contemporary selection right before it. Not to mention, I can't use the traditional "here comes the bride" because of my church's regulations.

I'm considering using a piano version of a song like Canon in D or Trumpet Voluntary, that way it fits a little better.

Any help/advice/song ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much everyone and happy planning!

Look at The Piano Guys and although it sounds weird, look at movie soundtracks. I've had a handful of couples use the theme from "Forrest Gump"; it's really beautiful. I walked down the aisle to the theme from Out of Africa.

I agree with Celia. We're have a ukulele duo play our ceremony music. Our bridal party is walking in to A Thousand Years and I'm walking in to Somewhere Over the Rainbow. For our recessional we're using Everything is Awesome.

We love Jonathan Cain's Bridal March it's traditional and get new it's very again and soft reason and probably 50% of their weddings it's wonderful. Please let us know if this helps you.

What about John Legand "All of me" or Ed Sheering "thinking out loud" similar tempo/genre.

I'm planning to walk in to Sara Bareilles "I Choose You". Though I was planning on having that play as the wedding party walks in as well. Should I be thinking about a different song to play as the bridal party was walking in???

I'm really liking the Forrest Gump theme song and the Piano Guys Can't Help Falling in Love Smiley smile

I'm definitely looking for something without vocals for my entrance. Kara, I don't think anything is wrong with walking to the same song as your bridal party. But in my situation, my sister will be singing A Thousand Years which will be lovely for the bridesmaids entrance. But for my entrance, I want my sister to be able to experience that moment and not be worrying about nailing her notes. I also just kinda want my own special song Smiley smile

Does your church have a regulation solely against Here Comes the Bride, or is it broader?

Well so far my pastor has said no the Bridal Chorus and the Wedding March, due to the content of the operas they are from. The music just needs to be "tasteful", and the music should be "sacred" yet not required to be "religious".

Check out the theme from the movie Somewhere in Time. Also, the Keira Knightley Pride and Prejudice.

I'm walking down the aisle to "Mamma's Song" by Carrie Underwood. My mom is the one walking me and the lyrics make sense for the journey I've taken to get to my FH as well.
