Struggling with Colors

Morgan, on August 19, 2020 at 12:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14
Any advice is appreciated. We are getting married on 4.3.21
I have several color schemes chosen that I love, but I’m having an extremely hard time deciding on what color to choose for the bridesmaid dresses. My dress is Stella York ivory over almond, I’m thinking the guys will be in Navy, and I’m wanting to do like a peony pink for the girls, but every pink I come across is either tooo pesto bismol or too dark and dungey and I want warm colors. Does that make sense?! I can picture it in my head, but can’t find any pictures that explain. I already purchased my save the dates and they are a very light pink, almost off white, with light grey writing. Any other color options match with this? I definitely want pink in the flowers.

Someone recently asked about getting a certain color dress... Suggestion, get it in white and have it custom dyed.

I’m in Canada, and I’m not sure how easy it is to access this designer. All the chiffon dress style come in most colour options, so your not limited to one style.

Browse for color palettes on Pinterest or better yet, go to Walmart or a local hardware and grab paint chips in the colors you like.

Navy dresses with pink flowers would be beautiful. Otherwise order swatches of pink from Cocomelody or Azazie for the dresses.

I agree that navy dresses with pink flowers would be very pretty!
We are getting our dresses at David's Bridal. We are doing marine (which is basically navy) with my MOH wearing desert coral.

I did look on DB's website and these are some of the pinks they have maybe one of these is a color you're looking for. All of them would go with navy in my opinion! Hope it helps!

If you don't have a size range (like some straight sizing, some plus sizing) a dress from any store, as long as it was all the same would work.

I personally like navy myself. Otherwise, you could even look at grey as well.

Adrianna Pappell has several shades of blush/pink - https://www.adriannapapell.com/beaded-v-neck-gown--09286895_BLS_M.html?cgid=pink-bridesmaid-dreses; https://www.adriannapapell.com/savannah-one-shoulder-chiffon-pleated-dress-AD8E206397_AA248Blush_M.html?cgid=pink-bridesmaid-dreses

I found my bridesmaids dresses at brideside or you could try bella bridesmaids

I found these images that might help... if you can't find the right shade of pink, I think grey would be really pretty! Or, you can put the girls in navy and the guys in grey. David's Bridal, JJ House, or Azazie are places you can check for bridesmaid dresses that might have the color you have in mind.

I totally know what you mean with the pink. To avoid that, what about choosing a much lighter pink instead, like a blush or petal pink? That was my first thought since peonies look lighter pink on the edges of their petals. It would look gorgeous next to navy suits and any darker color pinks in your florals would pop. It also looks great on a range on skin tones and is an easy color to shop for. You could even do a floral pattered bridesmaids dresses that are light pink with darker pink flowers on them.

If that's not your jam, you can always google 'peony pink color schemes' which could give you some fresh ideas.

I’ve thought about that but kept struggling with the lighter pink looking to light next to my dress. I feel like I’m being picky. 😢 I just want to find the perfect color

Personally i love the grey!! It's so nice. And it's so neutral you can do a lot with it. Then you could have the girls wear pink shoes or jewelry and carry pink flowers.

It's ok to be picky! Sometimes different shades of colors are in depending on whats trendy for the year, so it could be the shades of pink that you're seeing offered don't match your vision for that reason. I think the Dusty Pinks are really trending right now, which seems like the color you're looking to avoid. Have you looked at different swatches in person as opposed to online? That could be really helpful! Even looking at google photos of real weddings in the color and designer can help you see the actual color:

Here's some other pink color dress colors I found:

    Azazie Coral

This bride had peonies in her bouquet and bridesmaids bouquets, and used this color for her bridesmaids dresses. It's warm and not too pinky or light.

Plum Pretty Sugar Dresses in Peach/Apricot/Coral

There are some gorgeous patterned dresses for great prices on this site.

    Struggling with Colors 12

    Bird Grey Rose Quartz

This would contrast nicely with your dress color. It also leans a bit more purple-y like peony.

    Azazie Candy Pink

If it's good enough for Serena Williams, it could be good enough for your bridesmaids! This pink is the closest to peony I found.

Tulle and Chantley Sunset Peach or Coral

Either of these colors are warm and provide contrast against your dress. Coral is a bit more vibrant of the two
