Struggling with Wedding colors!

Shenea, on July 2, 2022 at 6:12 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 9
I have so much relief in knowing I’m not the only bride-to-be struggling with choosing wedding colors.
I’m battling between warm, earth tones (Rust, Sage, etc.) and “pops” of color (Coral, Fuschia, Blue, etc) because I equally like them both. Trying to make sure I pick the right colors that’ll mesh & photograph well. I’m also stressing because I’m told some colors may be harder to access if not in season. So ladies, if yall don’t mind, please help. Would like a little guidance, if one could spare. For Background: We’ve selected a Nashville golf course venue in Sept 2023. Modern & elegant is the theme.

The wedding colors was a constant battle for us. So I understand! I would definitely think either color choice would be fine. I personally would go with the earth tones since you’re going for a more modern elegant look. Once you do decide which colors you can do color swatches. If you’re having a bridal party definitely recommend looking sooner than later as some of their colors might take a couple months to ship.

I agree that you can do either, or both. Pops of dusty blue or navy would also look beautiful with earth tones. Maybe ask your bridesmaids which they would like?

I found you some pics of possibilities, maybe one stands out to you.

I'm doing a burnt orange, a golden issue yellow, a nice green (called eucalyptus) and dark purple.

I was in the same boat as you then realized that I don't remember any weddings color palate they used. I don't think anyone will notice if my colors don't go perfectly. Lol

Hi Shenea. I think the easiest way to choose your color scheme is by looking in your closet. Do you have more muted tones, or vibrant tones? It doesn't matter the venue or theme because you can make any wedding vision modern, elegant, and personal.

Flower options do change with the season, but, really, there are so many flower options that choosing based on color shortages is unnecessary, unless you have a specific flower in mind. You can always import what you want into TN. I would consider scrolling through these diverse fall bouquet pictures for inspo: Fall bouquets.

Here are some vibrant wedding inspo ideas:

    Dusty blue, hot pink, orange

    fushia, neon, tropical ravers

In the end, I'd ask yourself: 1) what does my partner want (we can't forget them!)? and 2) when I look at my pictures, will I be sad if I go the other way? Don't forget, you bring the elegance, not the decor. Smiley winking Best wishes.

If undecided, does one set of colors look better with your venue space? While many venues are completely neutral, others have a “feel” that may help you decide which direction you’d like to go. Also, browsing Pinterest may help you see which of your choices you seem to lean towards or give you inspiration pics!

So what's nice about September is that its between seasons, so a lot of summer flowers are still in bloom, while the fall flowers are also still coming in. Of which, both of your options work really well.

Take a look at this: https://www.bridalguide.com/planning/the-details/decor-flowers/flowers-in-season-september#141409

It will give you a bunch of flowers that are in bloom for September here in the US. I'd also google some other sources on flowers that are in season in September. My florist mother always says - no matter when you're getting married, pick a color theme that works with the season's flower or else pay through the nose.

Some of the flowers that are in season may really speak to you and scream "THIS ONE! ME! MAKE ME YOUR MAIN COLOR!" and then you can always go from there.

Personally, I've always sworn by bold colors (see dress in profile picture lol). That being said, I've gone back and forth on what colors I really liked a ton of times. I like the advice on looking at whether there are certain colors that really work with your venue as well as what flowers are in season for September. If that doesn't help, try googling "color palettes" and scrolling around to see which colors you gravitate towards. If there's one you like but aren't sure what to pair it with, refine your search to "[insert color here] color palettes" to get an idea of colors you can pair it with.

We had a September wedding and our colours were navy, fushia and gold. My bouquet was fushia orchids, of which the shops were full in September.

I think your second colour idea with pops of colour will work potentially better with a modern venue but both will look pretty!
