My husband and I got married in July which is when I quit taking birth control because we wanted to have a baby. Since coming off of it, I have yet to have a period. I have taken a bunch of tests and now I'm having more done to see if I possibly have PCOS as I have one cyst on my left ovary and a few small on my right. I never had any issues before going on the pill and I was on it for 3.5 years. My husband and family have been trying to convince me that until we know anything not to freak out. But I am so worried how this will effect not only me because I can't imagine not being able to have children, but also my marriage. My husband has wanted children the entire time I've known him and that was a huge deciding factor in when he proposed. My mom was diagnosed with PCOS at 15, but she had two children so I know it is possible it just really scares me. Has anyone been through something similar or knows someone who has? If so how did you deal with it?

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 13 years old. When I was 25 I seemed out a fertility doctor and she performed a procedure she called ovarian drilling. She went in laparoscopically and removed about 28-30 cyst on each of my ovaries. 6 months later I was pregnant with my son. I had an IUD inserted for birth control after I delivered my son and 3 years later removed it so I could get pregnant again. 9 months after I had it removed I got pregnant with my daughter. I am now 39 and have my tubes tied and am going in for an ultrasound to see how many cyst I have again and my Gyn is looking to remove my ovaries and tubes so that they stop rupturing and causing pain.

I thought I could never get pregnant but that is not true. I have two beautiful children thanks to that procedure. Good luck and prayers everything works out!

So I have endometriosis and have cysts on my ovaries I had surgery to remove the cysts and endo in Aug of 2018 (because we wanted to start trying when we got married in Oct 2018) which left us with a window of about a 10 month span to actually get pregnant based on my severity (and previous surgeries). I got pregnant on our honeymoon (before I would have started stressing... I know lots of couples that stress because they can't get pregnant and once they hit the realization it might not happen and stop stressing they end up pregnant) I agree with others it's possible work with your doctors and try to stop stressing over it because it can affect you.

I would ask about getting the cysts removed too because that could possibly be causing more issues then the possible PCOS?

The one doctor that I saw put me on Progesterone and he is hoping that it will break up the cysts. He is the same doctor that only told me about one cyst rather than all of them so I quit going to him.

I have PCOS and can say that I've never had trouble with pregnancy so it's not quite the doom and gloom you think it is. Lots of people with PCOS get pregnant. Definitely give yourself time to heal and adjust after coming off BC. My sister had an IUD for years and had it removed so they could start planning their family, and it took her almost a year to get pregnant. And she was worried the whole time that something was wrong but it was OK. These things take time, and when it's time, your body will be ready and will start the process naturally for you. Hang in there!! Smiley heart
