Stupid little things you don't think of.

Today FMIL asked me what was going to be on the table in terms of drinks. I said we are putting to bottles of wine at each table. Then she said asked me if there was going to be water because maybe 1 of 5 of them will be drinking at her table. I literally did not think about this, at all. My...

Today FMIL asked me what was going to be on the table in terms of drinks. I said we are putting to bottles of wine at each table. Then she said asked me if there was going to be water because maybe 1 of 5 of them will be drinking at her table. I literally did not think about this, at all. My catering contract says there is coffee and tea included, but no mention of water, so of course I e-mailed her the second I got home to ask. No response yet. If it's a no, I don't know wtf were going to do. Go to the dollar store and pick up pitchers and glasses I guess and somehow get them filled and put on the tables. Our venue is useless so I know they won't provide it. *Sigh* just one more silly little thing to add to the ever-growing list. Have you guys run into small things you wish you had thought of earlier?

    The water thing is ridiculous!

The worst part about it is that after I got that e-mail from her I did some calculations (which I should have done a long time ago) between the basic package were getting plus having to rent linens from the lodge and her next package up that includes linens, glassware, WATER,..etc. There is only a $239 difference after taxes. I'm an idiot, but my parents were also pretty adamant about keeping costs low. So now my tables are going to have bottles of water on them and if the lodge has a problem with it, their going to get an earful.

@VM- LOL, Your having a low-keyish seafood boil if I'm not mistaken. I think disposable cups wouldn't be so bad. We're currently sitting at disposable dinnerware, I may upgrade though when our final numbers are due.

@SS, Jess & Janine- You would think this wouldn't be a problem. She'll give us coffee and tea, but not water. I don't understand. Why did I not think of this sooner!?! I'm the worst at wedding planning lol.

I have a friend that the restaurant she works at caters and asked her about water and why they charge.....she said its simple...easy money! They know a person needs water or at best 3 out of 5 will take a glass of water so why not charge for a simple normally free resource...sad! Im doing bottled water and bought bottle wrap labels from OT to put on them and the bartender will keep a bucket filled with ice and the bottles for me at the end of the bar

Talk to your caterer, then, and have her put a glass pitcher of ice water on each table. Done and Done.

No water?! Even here in California with our major drought, our venue is providing water at the table.
