Hi ladies! First want to thank WW for all your advice so far!!!

We initially started planning for a dry wedding just because my FH hates alcohol. But after reading threads we decided to provide beverage. Of course...

We are thinking a wine only option from the caterer. The full bar is ridiculously expensive. Is wine only appropriate for wedding reception?

Thanks so much!

I would see if they could do wine and beer. Some people may not drink wine so beer would be a good alternative.

I actually just went to a wine-only reception. At first, I thought it was weird. But they had five different options, and I tried them all. I didn't miss the beer at all!

I'm doing wine only but I'm having 6 different ones... I don't think anything is wrong with wine only.

I agree that wine only is better than nothing, but if you could have wine and beer that would be great and cover most everyone. Beer is usually cheaper than wine as well.

Wine and beer, just make sure to ask the caterer what the most popular choices are so you have options that please the majority.

Typically it's a wine and beer bar. As long as there's also soft drinks/coffee/other to offer your non-wine guests, I'd say go for it.

Me and SO have agreed to have 1 type of red wine 1 type of white wine and then 1 option of beer... I’m not a huge beer drinker and neither is my SO.. What’s a good beer option ?

Hi there! Just a FYI, this thread is from 2016, so the people posting have likely long since gone. Sorry I don't really know much about American beers, but I'd go with something light. Maybe your caterer has a suggestion?
