If you don’t yet have a style in mind, venue shopping may give you some ideas! You might love the classic or fairytale look a hotel ballroom can give. Or how a botanical garden let’s you play with a partial color palette, or a fun theme like Alice in Wonderland.

I have colors picked out Turquoise Purple accented with Gold my mom thinks I should add another color to soften it and tone it down a little and I'm having issues with that so any pointers in that aspect would be helpful as well. I've just run into the problem of I like a little bit from each style Smiley sad.

To be honest, NOT toning it down could mean you need less decor since stuff in those colors will be louder. Purple table runners with gold candles and table numbers? Boom centerpieces. Some DJ lights in purple and turquoise might mean not needing to hang anything else around the venue at night. Place a gold vase on your & your husband's table and put your bouquet in it with a couple of votive candles and suddenly everything is snazzy. Plus you know where that bouquet is later.

For inspo, I used Pintrest. The key is letting Pintrest go once you have your supplies so you don't go over budget trying to add stuff. I found a venue with a rustic brick wall feel and I'm telling myself less is more with the decor.

I got inspiration from my favorite era in fashion and it was the 20s. I love the architecture, jewelry and the grand, lavish parties. I love the way flappers dressed and how the men were always in suits. So we (I) decided to go with The Great Gatsby as our theme.

So I had a similar color scheme except mine was teal, purple, burgundy, black and gold accents. Basically I was calling my style “edgy glam” and describing it as moody, dark colors with pops of jewel tones.

Everyone thought I was crazy and that it would look so ugly and tacky (day-of-coordinator and mom). My MOH and a friend (who is a restaurant designer) tried to make me tone it down and dwindle it to only have 2 colors. I doubted myself after hearing initial feedback from people. I had a vision in my head, but no one else could see it because it was all just living in my head. Lol. I finally said, “screw this. It’s my wedding. If it’s ugly at least it was my decision.” So I did what I wanted to do. No regrets. Everyone loved it and I actually had people apologizing to me for doubting my vision. 😂
My biggest advice is go with your gut and what makes you happy! If purple table runners with teal flowers makes you happy— do it!
Here are pics people snapped at my wedding (sorry, don’t have my professional pics from my photographer yet).

Think of things you guys like and it may come to mind. I am doing simple rustic. I love mason jars and simple things so thats how my theme came to play. Doing alot of wood work pieces and mason jars... My friend whose getting married also they love the movies and there first date was movies so they are doing a movie theme? It is the 20s maybe roaring 20s theme? Any style that fits you two!

I think it's best to keep your style as one thing, and maybe add a secondary influence. It's hard to do! However, I think that's the only way to make things pop. Don't over-complicate it and lose your vision. The theme for my elopement was just 60s. Actually, themes get pretty specific, because it was actually mid to late sixties. You might, for example, want an Italian wedding. That could mean a lot of things: over the top and luxurious or simple and country. It could mean a small, intimate wedding with a long table at the reception, or a giant wedding with all your extended family. If I'd done a full wedding, I would have personally done something Hygge. The guidelines are more casual, and the aesthetic is easy to nail. Weddings that I see on TV don't turn out well with multiple themes: like a beach day in a graveyard with Polish flair and a maypole. This is just my opinion, though.

Think about the season, the place and your theme. If you go to a small boutique, they will take their time and pick dresses based on the question they ask.
Example the boutique I went to asked me where is the reception, descripe how you want to look in your dress.
