Suggestions for weddings during Covid

For anyone who has had or will have a wedding during this pandemic. What advice do you have on planning for your wedding day with all of the restrictions?

My advice is if you want to be married during a pandemic you need to be okay with any restrictions, whether that is masks, social distancing or having a low guest count.
Once you accept that there are restrictions and that you will do what you’re asked to do, it just makes it easier. It’s so stressful to be against masks for example and just keep checking to see if they’re done being required. Once you accept it, you can learn how to work with it, as in look for ways to have cute pictures still or find super cute matching masks.

Let’s put it this way. If I had known that things were going to be like this and a massive pandemic was going to break out before we signed our contract I would’ve never signed the contract.
To be honest, unless they live in Florida or don’t mind a formal dinner as s wedding I don’t understand why couples would even bother planning for anything big at a venue within the next year. Things are clearly not going to get any better.

We are still working to jump over hurdles to make our wedding day the day that we want it to be. Postponing or pushing out the wedding is out of the question for us financially Because every Vendor/venue Charges more to push out the date. There have been people who have already postponed about three times now. That’s thousands upon thousands wasted. If you plan on planning your wedding within the next year, you might want to start putting extra money aside in case you have to post pone if you want certain things at your wedding that your state will not allow currently. If you don’t mind they are not being any dancing, standing, your wedding photos or videos having a bunch of masks in them, no past hors d’oeuvres, no outdoor lawn games, no cake cutting, then I’d say go for it.

Yes I was just looking into cute masks! We postponed last year so we have accepted the fact that masks will have to be worn and figure guests will be used to them by now!

That's awful that you have to pay to postpone! I postponed my wedding last year to this year and I was not charged a penny by any vendors.
I am in NY state and things are slowly opening back up so I'm hoping for the best! I'm okay with masks and social distancing and our DJ is super creative in coming up with games to play during the reception!
    Good luck!

Hi Felicity! We had our wedding August 2020 (postponed from June). I will say it tested me in ways I never imagined. Tested my flexibility and creativity and I’m better for it ❤️ I wouldn’t have changed how our wedding turned out - surpassed all my expectations! On the logistics side, outdoor options are key. White tents made all the difference for us! Follow your state restrictions closely. Our restrictions at the time in PA were up to 250 outdoors and 25 indoors with masks required indoors. We had face masks, hand sanitizer and social distancing wristbands upon guests arrival at the ceremony (we had a coastal theme and florist decorated it!). Here are pics of our “PPE” table. Hope this helps ❤️

That table is beautiful!! I love that idea.
We are having a barn wedding so a lot of it will be outside on the grounds of the farm which will be super helpful! Thank you so much for your advice!Smiley smile

If you can wait, reschedule the date. If you can’t, just get married! COVId will be a lot better by the end of July 2021. I believe that small weddings can also be very beautiful. It really depends on how you do it.

I recommend having as few guests as possible. We opted to elope.

Some of us don't "want" to be married during a pandemic, FYI. some of us have already rescheduled 3 times and cannot change the date again.

Best advice, honestly. We opted to have less than 10 people. Risking everyone's health for a party seemed stupid to us. The poeple that are attending our wedding all work from home, including us, so we are able to completely quarantine before the wedding.

Right now our guest count is 13 people. That includes the my fiancé, our baby, and I, our parents and stepparents, and four of our closet friends. I have looked into streaming the wedding so all of of families can watch us get marred, my stepdad is our officiant. I am going back and forth at the moment about renting a cabin for us to have a getaway minimony or holding it at a local park. I'm trying to juggle a low budget, we aren't doing a big cake or dj or anything like that we aren't even doing reception after. I am just ready to be MARRIED. When it it safe to have a large gathering then we will invite everyone and CELEBRATE!!! Part of my budget right now though is to have a photographer to capture pictures of me in my dress and the ceremony. I will probably wear a simple dress when it is time to do the big celebrations.

Hello! My wedding was in October 2020 (original date) and I didn't want to postpone or cancel. I just pushed through and got creative with the new restrictions in place at the time, and followed guidelines the best we could. I wouldn't change anything about my wedding, it was honestly the best day of my life and everything totally exceeded my exceptions and was perfect (even though it was during a pandemic). My advice to you is to just plan as normally, but remember to keep those restrictions in mind. Yes there will be extra work and money spent with the precautions, like buying masks, hand sanitizers, etc... but in the end it will still all fall into place. Everyone is there to celebrate you and make you feel special. Have that trust in your vendors as well. They should go above and beyond for your day. Good luck to you! 💕
